Spoilers The new (massive spoiler) ship!

I think ‘messed it up’ is a bit harsh. It was just too expensive to build the original design.

Side note, you can get that design in STO, they called it the Narendra Class. The model was even built by Tobias Richter based off his original 3D model posted above. The in-game lore even alludes to the reason why they didn’t use the design in TNG.

This pathfinding design, overseen by Captain A. Probert in 2319, was revolutionary but deemed “ahead of its time.” Its fluid hull forms pioneered spaceframe advancements later implemented in the Galaxy-class starship, but material, power and logistical problems all manifested simultaneously, requiring a massive redesign to subsequent vessels of the class.

Those chunky nacelles and horrible angled pylons though – surely they could have done something with those that didn't look quite so bad without going over-budget? Though I do quite like the "retro" cylindrical secondary hull on the Ambassador.

So according to this new Star Trek Logs Instagram post, the Enterprise-F launched in 2386 and she's "scheduled for decommissioning... the Enterprise-F's final flight will be... during this year's Frontier Day."

So those clips of the Enterprise-F are of her being DECOMMISSIONED!? Why the hell even use the F then!? Reason #47 why they should have just stuck with the E!

Could it mean that we'll get to see the Enterprise-G in the season finale???

I don't think you quite understand the time and budget limitations that Berman Trek was always under. First of all, the producers didn't even want a new model built for the C. They wanted to use the already existing movie models (either the A or the Excelsior) for the ship (either by modifying the existing models to create a new 'class' or just making the ship the A or the B instead of the C.) Second, this luckily didn't happen only because Greg Jein was such a prolific modelmaker that he could build a ship on time and under budget, or in several cases for free. But that meant that sacrifices had to be made with the original Probert design for cost and time constraints. Just be happy we even got a C model at all.

Why? At this rate, it'll just get decommissioned ten years later.

My impression is that they weren't all too happy with the design for the Enterprise-F but didn't want to drop it, because of the people liking the version seen in Star Trek Online. And when Doug Drexler came aboard, they let him design another Enterprise.

As much as I would love to see a new Enterprise-G, I'm still inclined to think they got rid of the F in favor of the TNG gang riding in style with the Enterprise-E maybe late in season 3. Could be the Titan-A gets disabled or even destroyed and they look for other means to finish their mission.
There's also that snippet from the "Startreklogs" on Instagram about the Enterprises, with the Ent-E part stating "Final mission: CLASSIFIED" (in bold letters so we can take notice of that especially). Maybe the final mission of the Ent-E will be at the end of Picard season 3.

I think the Odyssey-class is fantastically ugly and I'd be perfectly happy for it to never appear on screen at all. I just think it's really weird that they'd put it in the show to appeal to fans of STO and then bugger up everything to do with it from the perspective of STO.

I've never played STO, so my impression of the -F comes strictly from artwork I've seen online, and it's okay. The double neck thing makes the ship a bit ungangly. It's a bit like the -D in that regard; there are angles where it looks good, and there are angles where the eye doesn't know where to focus and the ship looks a bit fugly. Personally, the GIF posted above with the -F flying past fireworks and Spacedock is, for me, not one of the good angles; it's so curvy that from below there's little definition and I can't discern a shape. I'll have to see it in action to get a better "feel" for the ship.

Did Doug say he designed a new Enterprise, or is this more conjecture?

How did you get that impression? I don't recall anyone from production commenting on the design.

Think it's obvious if you look at the opinion of fans here, in other forums and on Reddit, that there are a lot of fans not liking or even hating the design of the F. Guess they may have done their homework but also didn't wanted to disappoint the ones who liked the STO version.
