It's like a predator; it's stalking you. Oh, you can try and outrun it with doctors, medicines, new technologies. But in the end, time is going to hunt you down... and make the kill.

Spoiler: The Titan's crew, with the exception of Geordi's daughter (who will no doubt at some point be kidnapped), will get less character development than the Discovery bridge crew.

I guess you mean across the series, because at least one guy got more in the trailer than the DSC crew got in the first series.

We are just getting a little taste of them. The development comes when the spin-off gets going.

The TrekMovie spoiler-free review gave an interesting tidbit about Captain Shaw (which I'll spoiler-wrap anyway):

Stashwick's character is a nod to Robert Shaw and is somewhat based on Quint from Jaws. He gives a monologue similar to the "We delivered the bomb." classic, I'm guessing about the Borg (because another review indicated he had a bad history with them).

It's suggested in E2 IIRC that
he has had or still has mental health issues

Maybe Shaw is a Wolf-359 survivor. Would help explain why he doesn't seem to like Picard, and associates him with explosions and such.

At this point (2405), the events of Best of Both Worlds (2367) are 38 years in the past. Assuming Capt. Shaw is the same age as Todd Stashwick (54), he would have been 16 at the time. He could have been on a "family" ship like the Galaxy Class, I suppose, that was sent to Wolf 359. But I doubt Starfleet sent families to be slaughtered. More likely he lost his family to them in that battle, but wasn't there. Alternatively, his family could have been assimilated on some outpost, and he hid from the Borg.

Sisko's family was with him on the Saratoga when it went to Wolf 359. Indeed, that's how Jennifer Sisko was killed. Also, there were other civilians and children seen on the Saratoga and its escape pod.

He could have been on Sisko's ship. Maybe Sisko even shows up for a scene and talks to Picard about him.

Good point. I'd forgotten about that. You may be on to something here (i.e. specifically being on the Saratoga -- seems like a Matalas-type nod).

Maybe we can do a Zoom watch. :)

Because not everyone who gets married changes their name. I didn't change mine when I got married.

And for further precedent within Trek canon, Kasidy Yates did not change her name to Kasidy Sisko when she got married. B'Elanna Torres did not change her name to B'Elanna Paris when she got married. Neither Will Riker nor Deanna Troi changed their name when they got married, and indeed their children use both last names.

Just like NBC/Desilu did back in the 60's with Star Trek and Mission Impossible.

On the bit I've bolded - certainly in UK it is quite common for doctors to keep their name after marriage (also seen sometimes in other professions). I think others had said they may not be married or simply the convention of naming has changed in the future

Honestly it’s not usual at all anymore for women to take the husband’s name in my country (Italy).

Here in Belgium, I have never known the practice. Women keep their own name after marriage.
