It's been while so I don't remember exactly how it went, but when the show started the I believe the movie and TV parts of Marvel were together, but part way through they split. I think that might have been at least part of why they stopped coordinating things as tightly as the show went on.

I think the last really close connection was the fallout from the Hydra/Shield reveal in Winter Soldier, that had a huge effect on the show, in fact it changed the entire tone and dynamic of it.

That was in the last quarter or so of its first season and i was really happy to have seen Winter Soldier early because a mere 2-3 weeks after the movie release this started in AoS. Bucky as the Winter Soldier was no spoiler as i knew that already from the comics but Hydra using Shield as a front was new and it really boosted the show and made it a must see for a good while for me.

The last bigger connection it had was when Lady Sif appeared for a short cameo but from season 2 the references got much more sporadic until AoS did its own thing completely. It was ignored by the movies and if you read a bit between the lines back then it seemed like a sore spot for the producers and actors to be treated like a redheaded step child.

About the only back reference to AoS in the MCU i can remember is how Fury escaped from his car in Winter Soldier, as that device/cutter originated in AoS and was invented by Fitz.

So i would be very surprised if Chloe Bennett would appear in the MCU and even more surprised if she gets to reprise her role as Quake. I can't see that being more of a quick cameo with very few lines due to the Multiverse possibilities.

There's ways of telling amazing superhero movies without resulting in a continues bombardment of cgi/sfx. It's all about going bigger and more, not about the actual story they want to tell.

My critique of Strange 2 and MCU in general as of lately in those exact words, while it was cool in the first strange ( a sort of Inception on steroids) it became very distracting but that's also a big point in the critique of the MCU in general for a while now - the over reliance on Special Effects, so much that SFX studios are now in a permanent crunch and often enough don't get the time and ressources to do it properly.

Other way around. It was created for the movie, but the lead time on movies is so much greater than the lead time on TV shows that AoS was able to write the device into an episode that came out before the movie and create the impression that Fitz invented the device. By the same token, AoS was able to do a subplot about Coulson's team finding Loki's scepter for the Avengers, and about Coulson secretly readying the Helicarrier that Fury used in the climax of Age of Ultron.

Fair enough, it's been years since i saw AoS.

Let's do something rarely done anymore....actually watch the movie and THEN pass judgment.

So, speaking as someone who did not watch AoS but kept up with some of the plot developments on the internet, how did things end up here? And by that I mean, why did a show that was allegedly well-coordinated with the films for years end up in a place where the final seasons don't seem to exist in the universe of the films anymore?

Kevin Feige and the media have been inclined to blame Mutant Enemy and the series. I don't think Marvel Films have been inclined to maintain ties with the series, especially after Season 2. Even Chloe Bennet had complained about this, while the series struggled to keep up with the movies. The only time the series didn't bother to keep up with the movies was during Season 6. But even Season 7 had mentioned events from "The Winter Soldier". And it included the Daniel Sousa character from "Agent Carter", which IS regarded as canon by Marvel Films.

It's quite normal for a tie-in to try to stay consistent with the core work without the core work reciprocating. Tie-ins rarely try to be in parallel realities; they try to simulate the appearance of being in continuity with the primary work as much as possible. It's just that the primary work rarely pays any attention to what they're doing and often ends up contradicting them, so that they have to be rebranded as an alternate or apocryphal continuity in retrospect.

Exactly my thoughts.

Please, anyone who reads my posts knows I always say the same thing. I said that that was my opinion on Wakanda Forever and that it APPEARS Ant Man 3 COULD go the same way and that the MCU/comic book genre had a tendency to be like that. I wasn't judging Ant Man 3 to actually be like. Don't be so condescending.

So according to Andy Park "Thunderbolts" is basically a sequel to "Black Widow".

He says Yelena, Red Guardian, Taskmaster and Valentina are all returning. I mean, yeah, we already knew that.

Apparently Ghost/Hannah John-Kamen is out, so this movie really is just a combination of the Black Widow and Falcon & Winter Soldier casts.
Personally I would have preferred the Thunderbolts team to have a bit more diversity from across the MCU

Where did you read that? Wasn't she part of the poster that was released?
I've seen the rumor floating around, but nothing solid enough to make it feel like it was worth posting.

ETA: It would seem that the ultimate source of this "information" is Giant Freaking Robot, hardly a reliable source..

There's no real proof that Ghost is out.

Yeah, I would not trust anything that comes solely from them.

Deadline has the list of trailers meant to be shown for this year's Super Bowl. All of the 2023 MCU movies are supposed to be represented here (which would include The Marvels' first trailer).

https://deadline.com/2023/02/2023-s...t-x-transformers-ant-man-expected-1235247160/

...but of note the article specifically says there's no plans for a Secret Invasion trailer to debut here or for any other 2023 MCU D+ show.
