I don't know about Keeler... he states he was developing feelings for her before Spock discovered she was the focal point of the divergence. I think that was genuine love.
The "Benny Russel" Ending Ira Stephen Behr was planning is some of the stupidest, most navel-gazing crap I've ever heard.

Interesting thread. Here are mine.
1. Chuckles and Seven is a good pairing.
2. Janeway was 100% correct in 'Tuvix'.
3. Star Trek Enterprise was AWESOME from start to finish and should have been the first 10-year series.
4. T'Pol is my favorite Star Trek character.
5. 'Carbon Creek' is my favorite Star Trek episode.
6. Burnham's long braids shouldn't be allowed in SF regulations.
7. They completely butchered the character Kira Nerys when she made the decision to kill her mother because she was with Dukat.
8. Except for the last 12 minutes (or so) of STiD, all the "Kelvin timeline" movies are awesome.
9. Chris Pine is an OUTSTANDING Captain James T. Kirk
10. The "Kelvin Timeline" is a cop-out by Orci because he was afraid to anger Star Trek fans. Star Trek has always had one and only one timeline.
That should be a good start.![]()
I'm not familiar with this. Care to elaborate?
IMO the ending they gave Captain Sisko was crap.
Fair enough-- with Edith there was mutual respect, admiration for her vision of the future. (“let me help”)
Kirk wanted Rayna as a trophy to possess – beautiful, brilliant, accomplished. He felt so strongly after 2 hours with her because he brought her emotions alive, while his powerful adversary Flint could not. She gave him the victory in romance, before she self-destructed.
Speaking of artificial women Kirk met – what did Kirk do for several days on the shore leave planet with ‘Ruth’ when he knew she was a total fabrication -?

You're looking at it the wrong way. The Kelvin Timeline is necessary because otherwise they couldn't go all-out if they were going back to TOS. Plus I'd just as soon forget about those movies and separating Star Trek into "Prime Timeline" and "Kelvin Timeline" takes care of it for us.10. Similarly, I'm glad DSC was jumped into the 32nd Century so I don't have to hear prequel arguments anymore. "What about SNW?" Not my problem. Let the people who are fans and haters of that show argue about it non-stop until the end of time.

Just because it's controversial doesn't mean I can't respond to it.But that's why I listed it, it's controversial.![]()

IIRC, a disillusioned Benny Russell would throw all his rejected manuscripts in the garbage. A janitor or garbageman would then empty out the garbage, see the manuscripts, read them over and take all of them. This individual would then be revealed to be wearing a nametag with "Gene" written on it.I'm not familiar with this. Care to elaborate?
