Not sure anyone is getting upset, certainly from my side I'm merely pointing towards my perception of the two shows and that they are equally violent - although I will agree with you that the violence depicted is very different in terms of how graphic it is.
That said, for the norms of the time, I think they are at a similar level - the 90s usually going for suggestive (you see the rope tighten and the feet swing for example) whereas modern day you will see a head roll on the floor. Looking at contemporary shows such as Buffy in the 90s and Thrones in the 10s and 20s then the various Trek shows are on a par
