The Roddenberry Archive / OTOY

The article mentions that several media outlets criticized the producers of Rogue One for the digital recreation of Sir Peter Cushing. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t that work done with the blessing of the Cushing estate?

The Roddenberry Archive was once again featured by Apple today in their keynote video for their fall event!

The used the first shot of the Memory Wall short. It is rendering with full quality on the new M2 iPad Pro and you can check it out on Apple.com too:

It’s great to see the RA team’s incredible work featured here, and grateful to the folks at CBS and Apple who helped make all this come together for the second year in a row.

and again.. Lawrence looks SO very much like Nimoy's Spock, awesome work by him, the prosthetics and FX crew on that.:mallory:
As for Mahe, she looks the part. :mallory: And yeah, that bridge looks great. :techman:
And those BTS vids were really interesting too.

Interview with FX Guide covering the RA: https://t.co/quZWfac05o (and a few more BTS videos)

Very good.

Here is something I learned about which might aid with photography of models:

"While powerful, MRI scanning and CT methods are prohibitively expensive. You also can't collect vital information such as the organism's color," explains Yuichi Kano, associate professor of Kyushu University's Graduate Education and Research Training Program in Decision Science for a Sustainable Society. "So, we developed 'bio-photogrammetry' as a way to incorporate photogrammetry that could scan and render a high-quality 3D image of an organism."

Whilst I think it goes without saying that the answer is likely to be a firm no but I feel it pertinent to ask. Will any of the models developed for this project be made available or will they be kept in house for legal reasons?

It’s up to CBS and Roddenberry to determine to what extant that happens - in the meantime we are working to make scans of physical assets available for viewing online, and maybe more after that.

Well, now you get to see what we've been working with at the Roddenberry Archive!

We've been filming documentaries, creating 3D models you can now walk on, and researching the hell out of Star Trek! You can read all about it and watch the mini-docs here: https://deadline.com/2023/04/star-t...veiled-by-the-roddenberry-archive-1235333603/
I make a brief appearence on the TNG mini-doc, it was a pleasure and honor to travel to LA and finally meet @Jules / OTOY, Mike and Denise Okuda, Daren Dochterman, and the rest of the team in person!

And then you can hop on to https://roddenberry.x.io and walk around the various Enterprise bridges we've been recreating with @Donny, @scragnog, and a lot of other very talented artists, from The Cage to Picard! You might need to wait a bit for the streams to load so you can take control of the camera, and Firefox has some issues at the moment. Enjoy and share!

Amazing videos. Well done guys! :techman:

That must have been an incredible amount of research to sift through.

There is an amazing unlisted video that was linked from William Shatner's archive interview called "765874 Regeneration (2K)". I hope that can be shared at some point?

EDIT: Scratch that question. I see OTOY posted and made public the video as "765874 Regeneration (4K)".

Donny, you must be having a blast displaying your work for this company. This is some exceptional work, great job!

Yowza! It's just great getting to see new Donny stuff. We got really spoiled for a while.

Did you do digital sets of the Strange New Worlds Enterprise or are those just virtual tours of the real thing?

I did NOT expect to see the Planet of the Titans and the Phase II bridges.

Not to be greedy, but I can't wait for more.
