Yeah, if they do end up going with, "Oh, no, it was only a little retcon, it looked like the TOS version during TOS after all, just not during 'The Cage,' fanservice fanservice!" it'll just be flailing. Why'd they change it? Shrug, wanted to. Why'd they change it back? Shrug, fans yelled at us.

It's like that episode of Futurama where Zoidberg's new underwater house burned down.

"The 2250s have a sleek new 21st century look! How will it tie in with prior spin-offs saying everything 'really' looked pretty much as it did in TOS?"

    "That's a very good question."

"We're revealing in the last episode that the ships, sets, and props were all 'refitted,' wink-wink, into loving recreations of the 1960s originals!"

    "That just raises further questions!"

I so don't care. It looks different because this show isn't being made decades ago. That's all.

I suppose I might be the only one here ceho want the 1701 to look as it did in TOS.

nope, I think it should have looked like “The Cage” version of the Enterprise from the second it showed up at the end of Discovery S1. But if they wanted to fudge that and WNMHGB and go right to a faithful TOS recreation that would have worked too.

In those first three examples, did the original actors go back to playing the part after the second actor took over the role? Because we still see the TOS Enterprise in other Trek series after DSC/SNW changed it.

So explain why we still see the TOS Enterprise/TOS Constitution class exterior in PRO, LDS and PIC, and the interior in Short Treks, all of which have been produced in the last few years.

Recasting is no Tru-TREK (Trademark pending) ;)

Begrudgingly accept recasting. Not so for TOS 1701 exterior.

If the Enterprise is a character (and I believe many have argued that it is) then recasting is absolutely a choice here.

And someone will prefer one cast member as the Enterprise, while others prefer another.

Interesting perspective. Still unmoved and want to see the TOS Connie come ~2364.

I wish you all the luck in the world on this one. So long as the ship carries the crew from one adventure to another I am fairly easily pleased.

And Tom Hardy vs. that other guy as young Picard. I couldn't really tell the difference because of the hair...:shifty:
