Maybe I shouldn't type this.... but what if Jellico was the Admiral who gives orders to that crew listed above....

Added. The Russians DID NOT invent everything, Pavel.

    EDIT: Adding in Jellico, too.

Meh... This is the list of annoying types. Jellico is more accused of being a jerk. The "annoying" guy who'd get my vote would be Styles of the Excelsior :guffaw:

Annoying or not, he was needlessly abrasive.

Well, he pissed me off and I'm throwing him in. So, who from DIS and PIC should join him? I don't think SNW has an annoying character yet.

Well this list gets MUCH longer if we're including anyone who's considered antagonistic lol

I thought we were just building a crew of JarJars :guffaw:

And if I'm being honest... Phlox

If you are designing a starship, why would you use so much carpet? It's everywhere.

Given that the ship is (magically) self-cleaning, (at least, the ENT-D was) why not?

Trying for the annoyingest character of each franchise, though.

The intention was to create an environment that was entirely unlike a spacecraft, because they were going to be out living in it for such long periods of time. They wanted more of a hotel vibe

Carpet is nice and soft and warm and makes for a much more home-like atmosphere than naked metal, and since people were living on that starship...
Really in my opinion the Enterprise D looked the most like it was designed in-universe for long time habitation.

It makes sense to create an atmospere that is not too far from what people are used to.
OTOH, what are the people from 24th century used to....

The Enterprise D was more like a cruise ship than a paramilitary vessel. All it needed was a casino, some drinks with parasols, and a mariachi band.

Given how often the ENT-D found itself in a combat situation, and supposedly with all those families aboard, it's weird we didn't see the saucer separation and the battle bridge way more often than we did.

Or were those families quietly ditched after S1?

I mean I can understand that in the early TNG era creation of a visual saucer separation sequence might have been too expensive to do frequently (and using the same stock images would have become tedious rather quickly too), but they still could have implied it and just shown the battle bridge.

Find you nearest holodeck and your starship can have all that. =)

Do you have carpet on your walls?

No, but I don't have wrought iron bulkheads for walls either. If I did, yeah, I might soften & deaden that space some, with some fabric, or rugs or carpeting, or better yet, tapestry.

The idea is to not feel like you live in a giant can

Someone upthread mentioned comparing Chakotay and Tom Riker's path.

I disagree for the simple fact that Chakotay resigned from Starfleet first before joining the Maquis. Tom Riker joined them while still in Starfleet. There's a big distinction between the two, not the least of which Chakotay didn't actually betray Starfleet. He left them first to join the cause. Tom, like Eddington, betrayed Starfleet because they were still officers when they joined, and used their access to do things against them.

While Tom does earn sympathy before his DS9 appearance, he made his choices that lose some of that sympathy.

Why is there a gift shop of all facilities aboard the -D?

I can think of two reasons.

    1. Oversized Replicators.
    2. Replicators sporting UIs equipped with design programs that allow for finer control over the finished product.
