Cut the quips

Is anyone else sick of the constant rain of clever/snarky comments everyone makes before doing anything in this show? I feel a more serious approach would greatly improve SNW.
There are obviously people sick of the quips. I am most emphatically not one of them. Why should the Kelvin Timeline have a monopoly on snarky quips in modern Trek?

Welcome to the modern age: sarcasm/snark is the new norm.
Ever watched M*A*S*H?
Ever interacted with people outside a computer screen?
People make jokes. People make quips. People are snarky and sarcastic, especially in professional environments in which they spend a lot of time together and, on ships and in firehouses, even live together. People are not Borg drones.

Who doesn't love a good, old-fashioned Spock/McCoy sarcasm fest?

It's like the story about when the actual USAF Chief of Staff was filming his cameo on Stargate. While on set, he was chatting with Richard Dean Anderson who asked him if there were any Colonels in the USAF who were like Jack O'Neill. The answer was "there are many who are exactly like O'Neill and many more who are much worse."
