Since SNW is in fact supposed to be a Pike series? Hell yeah.
You want Kirk, give him his own damn show.
You know. I think he's had one.

Even back during the Tos period?? You preferred Hunters Pike over Shatners Kirk???Pike over Kirk, period. Always have, always will.

Yup. Have my old childhood fan writings talking about Pike. Ever since I saw the Cage.Even back during the Tos period?? You preferred Hunters Pike over Shatners Kirk???

You don't know that, of course. Hell, the show might have pulled a bigger audience with Jack Lord.Because without Kirk, you wouldn't have Star Trek.
I'm not sure the toupee budget for Shatner would have been sufficient for the hairspray/gel for Lord (though Mount is certainly showing it can be done on a modern budget). You don't know that, of course. Hell, the show might have pulled a bigger audience with Jack Lord.![]()
It has nothing to do with Wesley or Mount. It has everything to do with my interest in the characters. And, even if I were interested in Kirk (I'm not) this is Pike's show. At this point, it's like if Jellico shows up and everyone demands he take over from Picard. It makes no sense.Interesting. I always liked Kirk over Pike. I like Jeffrey Hunter. He was a good actor and I liked him in The Searchers and of course King of Kings. Of course who knows how Pike would have developed after the Cage if Hunter had continued.
I'm the opposite on this series though. Wesley did not steal the show like Anson Mount did on Discovery.....![]()

Hyperbole on my part.Who's asking for that?
This is the Star Trek dilema: Let's boldly go and yet do the exact same thing and repeat similar story beats and not really show much change at all.I have a dilemma with TOS ... it says to boldly go etc..., But the enterprise is usually on a patrol mission, patrolling around locations starfleet has already been, going from starbase to starbase.
I mean, the transporter really doesn't do much differently from show to show. I don't know how it can't be less developed when it pretty much just does the same plot based things, from TOS to TNG to now.The transporters and other tech are 10 years or so before TOS, so they shouldn't be as well developed, procedures shouldn't be as well developed.

Agreed. I want to see the strange new worlds. As in more first contacts, more early spacefaring incidents, more creative new dilemmas. The transporters and other tech are 10 years or so before TOS, so they shouldn't be as well developed, procedures shouldn't be as well developed.
