I'm just thinking people could perhaps build batte-damaged Galaxy graveyard scenes like Wolf 359 using the parts they have - and a few pens and additional nacelles

And if you couldn't finish the DeLorean - Add a train and build the scene from Part III, perhaps even with a cartwheeling Marty action figure

From what I remember from the guys detailing their builds on here, I think what had been delivered was about 80ish percent of the dorsal saucer, half the cobrahead and most of one nacelle.

Not very complete underneath, but it still looks good…
I imagine that this is *kind of* what the bottom of the saucer section looked like after it was salvaged from Veridian III?

If the Picard FSX team want to use my model as a physical prop as part of season 3 at the Smithsonian they are more than welcome to.

They can go CGI if they want, but I think that by going CGI with spaceship design we are losing a lot of high skilled model making jobs.

In terms of 3D printers, there is one that prints in ice I saw recently.

That is great because it allows very smooth shapes--you don't have that ugly layered look with just a little heat smoothing things out....some CO2 and it is frozen solid. What is more---being ice---it can melt away lost-wax style for molds.

Direct Sound Printing is even better because you can print through opaque surfaces--within the human body even:

DSP--like ice printing--allows smoother forms...like Star Trek ships are known for. The layered look of old 3D prints only work with the Super Star Destroyer cotex--where each layer is a deck, say.

At the risk of starting an argument why not? 3d printing has come a long way, there is a huge variety of materials to work with, and has the potential to be cheaper or more accessible depending on the person.

Yeah, currently, the gameprint ones are full color and have a reasonable amount of surface detail, presumably printed on very expensive machines versus the personal ones that just use extruded plastics. It'll only get better in the future.

You can get the AMT 1/2500 kit with full Aztec decals for less than half that price.

I refuse to build this just incase something terrible happens on one of the 24 days of Advent and I can’t complete it. I have bad experience with these types of ‘part works’.

It has been picked up, the company that manufactured the parts bought out the subscription and the subscriber database. They are just trying to sort out the licensing at the moment.

I’m happy to be patient while things are sorted, it’s just a relief to know I might get to finish after all!
