Should Harry Mudd actor Rainn Wilson return for Strange New Worlds?

Starfleet and the Federation must wipe their database of criminal offenders once a year, too. Nah.

Mudd would have to be dumb or sloppy to use the same alias after getting caught, and he's neither.
He might not do anything that warrants him having anything recorded against his permanent record if he appears as Leo? Just because Mudd shows up in an episode it doesn’t mean that he has to be charged for a crime... he could get away with it, or just get a ‘friendly’. Also, perhaps in Mudd’s Women the Enterprise was chasing Mudd’s ship because it flagged up in their database as a result of something he had done under the name of Leo in the past. Maybe Leo was known to ignore starship communications signals and was also known as a menace to navigation… it would make sense.

Because rehashing an obvious plot point from "Mudd's Women" is a clever idea?

 Holy shit! That GIF is so awesome!

Mudd should have his own show. From what I understand they were even considering that. If not he should be a main character on the Section 31 Georgou show. If they wanted to work a quest spot on this show that would be okay. Just work around Spock and Uhura not being able to see or know about him. Heck in the season opener he could be a fellow prisoner that Number has to interact with between her talks with her lawyer Samuel T Cogley.

Harry and Section 31...don't know who I'd feel more sorry for.

Actually, now that I think about it, Harry would make a pretty good Section 31 agent. He's obviously not the idiot we thought he was from TOS, he's a lot smarter than people give him credit for. So who knows, it could work!

I never thought he was an idiot in TOS...

I liked Rainn Wilson’s performances, so I wouldn’t complain, but his appearance would contribute to the self-referential ‘small universism’ already on prominent display. My druthers would leave him to Disco.

Trek's always had a small universe. That's why Kirk ran into Mudd on three separate occasions, Spock's father in the Ambassador from Vulcan and half the women they meet are Kirk's exes.

Nah…frankly I find Star Trek’s exploration of roguish pirate types to be grating and mundane.

Mudd, Okona, and Angel can all dive head first into a black hole and I’d be a lot happier.

Indeed. It is not Trek's strong suit and would be best left aside.

The more I think about it, the more I am not crazy about the idea of a new visit by Mudd since Kirk and Spock have yet to meet him in person.

But I would love to see H Jon Benjamin return somehow as Larkin, the worst Starfleet officer, ever.
