Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

My guess is we're going to a teaser trailer, but not a full 2:00+ min one yet. Also perhaps the release date. Interesting that only Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden are the only cast on the Picard panel. I guess this means Beverly Crusher does play a big role in this season.

Update: Terry Matalas has all but confirmed on Twitter that we're going to get a trailer.

I think the main focus in terms of trailers and such though will likely be Lower Decks, and probably a short teaser trailer for S2 of SNW.

BTW does anyone know if there is going to be another big Star Trek Day thing this year like they've done the last two years. I'm just wondering because I can't see them bringing back the TNG cast for S3 and not trying to do a big panel with the as many of the cast as possible.

Sept 28 is TNG's 35th (eek) anniversary plus Dec 13 is the 20th anniversary of the TNG cast's last adventure all together so we could get something then!

Robert Meyer Burnett, who has despised this show (to put it mildly), has read all of the season three scripts and says it will be the best season of Star Trek television in decades. He compared the season to Top Gun Maverick.
Is this true? Amazing! :adore:

While I don't doubt there will be a teaser/trailer, I don't think we'll be getting a premiere date. I suspect they're going to sit on that until Star Trek Day in September or New York Comic Con in October.

Indeed, back in 2019 we got the trailer for season 1 of Picard at San Diego in July and the premiere date was announced at New York in October.

 that shit sounds familiar...

it's the same type of bs that midnight edge was peddling about disco so maybe you should stop listening to that kind of stuff

FWIW, I favor constructive engagement with multiple online channels, including Midnight's Edge. If you run the IMDB cross tabs on one of their frequent guests, he's worked with several people credited on NuTrek, including people with showrunner or would be showrunner rank. ME also has interviewed Nicholas Meyer, and practically called STD leaving Netflix almost a year before it happened. Are they a source of 100% truth? No. But they do get the analysis right on occasion. But they've done a poor job analysing the internal dynamics of Picard season 2, especially when just seeing the shifts in the opening credits provides a modicum of open source intelligence.

As to more Matalas and season 3... His interview on the moderately NuTrek critical Inglorious Treksperts podcast is another sign TPTB are trying to engage with NuTrek sceptical fans.

Jeri Ryan was there too. I just saw pictures London comic con on twitter. She was giving get well wishes to Jonathan Del Arco who had to cancel the last minute being at London Comic con he's got covid right now and is in quarantine.I hope that he gets well soon.

Damn, best wishes to Jonathan. I've got it right now, myself, but it's been OK. Ish.

Yeah, how in blazes did he come by this, anyway?

The fact that the Illuminerdi website was able to get the actual casting sheets for season 2 (and possibly also for a season 3 character, we have yet to see that) and for Strange New Worlds season 1 AND the fact that Paramount hurried to announce the involvement of the TNG cast even though season 2 hadn’t even finished because they apparently feared they couldn’t keep this a secret any longer suggests that there’s a bit of a general problem going on and that someone got their hands on quite a bit of privileged info and is carefully spreading it around.

As much as I’d love for the scripts RMB claims to have to be fake and as much as I’d love to laugh about this, all these other previous leaks probably mean they’re the real deal and someone knows exactly where to place them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they all show up on Reddit or something at some point.

Good shout, I appreciate the intel. Haven't followed as closely. That's nuts, dang.

^Vegas?

My last con was there, in... uh... dangit. It was before The Experience ended. I posted some pics taken on the Stratosphere during that trip.

It was probably Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer ago than I think.
