And Disco didn't even have to be that way. There's a wealth of stories in the bridge crew that are basically unused because Owo, Detmer, Rhys, Nilsson basically aren't developed characters.I said from the start even as far back as discovery that there was no need to show pike's accident but because discovery was so thin in plot they could not help themselves, now it is all over blown,
What I'm and other had posted are just hope and speculations. There's nothing wrong with that. It's not.
Not in this show. He dies later.
And fans rewarded them for it. So, who is the more foolish?I said from the start even as far back as discovery that there was no need to show pike's accident but because discovery was so thin in plot they could not help themselves, now it is all over blown,

To quote Obi-Wan, "Who is the more foolish? The fool or the fool who follows them." See, fans prove they can be changed which means that following the writers all the time is the more foolish venture. Stop rewarding bad behavior and wait for them to do something actually worth your time.the writers are more foolish if u want to call them that because with fans, they can easily change their minds. they hate something today the love it tomorrow and vice versa. whereas the writers, they wrote it, they are stuck with it and it defines them.
Are those my only choices?Would you fire Anson Mount? Or keep him on contract for ten years or more?
He's cured immediately after Menagerie and given a new command. The only thing is, what's the name of his ship? And how can the show go on without Spock who'll be with Kirk on the Enterprise?Would you fire Anson Mount? Or keep him on contract for ten years or more?
He's a keeper, and I don't mean Talosian! Pike's story will continue for a good long time yet. In what form? We'll... let's find out together! After all, he's probably bored stiff on Talos IV by now and is ready for the next phase of his existence. Perhaps we'll see a glimpse of that tonight.
This is getting a bit much. Pike's accident is so horrific because it's senseless and probably preventable, like many real life tragedies. Now it's being romanticized such that the galaxy as we know it will end if he doesn't go get fried. They've basically turned him into the Federation's First Servant who suffers horrifically so his people can be free, a concept he rejected just a few weeks ago. Maybe Alora can show up to point out Pike's hypocrisy (yeah the First Servant was a kid but he was also shown to have adult level intelligence and we really don't know the species' maturity rate is equivalent to humans')
Maybe at this point just turn Pike's beeping wheelchair into Warhammer 40,000's golden throne with beeping Pike the Emperor who's suffering for the galaxy. I think Star Trek's having issues if it's romanticizing Warhammer 40k philosophy of all things now.
Yesterday's Enterprise was a bit over the top for me to be honest. And the namecalling at the end of your post is completely uncalled for. I don't hate new Trek, but I should be able to be honest about my opinion on their story decisions without getting labeled. But lol, Star Trek has ALWAYS done this fate mojo, whether you have a hate-on for new Trek or not.

I feel this misses a point or is making one that I don't follow.Keep Pike's story going or snuff it out to make room for Kirk?
Hmm. Tough one, that. Mount sure oozes charisma to carry the show for years.
Is there anything definitively tying Spock to the Enterprise in the 12 years between TMP and WoK? Maybe he and Chapel jumped ship for a bit to rejoin a cured Pike on some new starship.Keep Pike's story going or snuff it out to make room for Kirk?

I admire your stamina.tomorrow, hell, I'm going to be up all night waiting for this episode to drop

There is still time in Pike to tell his story, and then hand it off to Kirk at some point in time (possibly Season 2, frustratingly enough...but I won't go there). So, again, not sure what the issue is when Pike has a couple of years before Kirk takes command to continue his story...![]()
