If I had just entrusted my daughter to an alien entity I just met with no independent knowledge of that entity's true nature, I wouldn't tell anybody either.
Given that Number One knows, and there are missing hours in the logs, I'm sure he'll be debriefed.

A full report of the missing hours would have to include M'Benga's illegal stowing of Rukiya in the transporter, which endangered the entire ship on the Illyria mission. I can't see this going unmentioned in M'Benga's permanent record. Pike might keep him as CMO while he's in command, but future captains (i.e. Kirk) probably would hold it against M'Benga and not let him be CMO under them. At least, that's my headcanon until told otherwise.

Does she know?
The last scene of the episode sure implies that he tells her at least in part. It'd be unprofessional not to tell her and the crew, but then this is Star Trek.
If M'Benga's wife is still alive, he'll have to tell her something, also.

6/10

This one was pretty cringe. I know the cast was having a bit of fun, and this was a bottle episode clearly (like very clear), but this is "Move Along Home" level quality. Resolving the daughter issue in a touching manner elevates it a point for me and Hemmer was great. Every first season has a dud and this was SNW's.

M'Benga's wife is not alive.

I liked the episode in general. The sort of episode you expect to see in episodic Trek.

But I think it needed a more wacky QPid style ending. It's not that I dislike the ending and the idea of having to let his daughter go so she can have a life. I just think it didn't fit the tone of the rest of the episode.

True, but every other series we've seen suggests that starfleet captains are extremely permissive about rule breaking when their heart is in the right place.

It's not just about accents. Different people have different abilities to hear at varying level, frequencies, etc. It also changes with age. In my case, overly assertive background music/sounds can make speech harder to distinguish. Add to that technical differences in the sound devices (TV speakers, sound bars, PC speakers, home theater setups, etc.) can either enhance or disrupt the sound clarity.

This also made me think of the Seinfeld episode about the woman no one could hear speak.
I'm pretty sure my difficulty understanding him is just frequencies and a shitty soundbar. If I watch on my PC with headphones no problem.

That might be part of it. I watch on my computer, and my PC speakers (Creative Labs Pebble) are only about 20 inches away. I never have trouble hearing him.

I don't even have close to a first rate sound system and I hear the dialogue just fine.
