Fantastic episode. The Butcher/Solider Boy/Hughie vs Homelander fight is how you do a superhero battle, and as others of said shows you how powerful Homelander is. The Kimiko fight was pretty awesome as well. I kept expecting her powers to return but guess that would have been a little too convenient. I did feel so sorry for her realising that powers aside this is who she is, but that surely brings she and Frenchie even closer together?

So A-Train, dead or not? His apology to Hughie actually seemed genuine, though you shouldn't have to experience heartbreak yourself to be able to empathise with others. His murder of Blue Hawk was incredibly visceral and given many black men have been killed that way, quite powerful.

All this and then Annie quits as Starlight and lights the fuse on blowing the truth wide open!

At what point is Homelander going to ask Edgar for help

Other takeaways. Mothers Milk choosing compassion over revenge was powerful, but so was his earlier "If I was a white guy" speech.

And the Deep is one fucked up individual. I somehow don't think cult wife is going to be around much longer.

Highly engrossing episode. So satisfying to get after 3 seasons. It's only just begun.

The apology at the end seems to make me think that he might be. That would tie up any loose ends with the character and redeem him (at least in his own eyes).

They should go flat out Austin Powers with covering up Jack Quaid's willy and have flower vases and whatever in the forefront .

No real point in laying it out there, I mean if you don't get it someone flat out telling you "Homelander is bad" isn't going to convince either and then it ends up like explaining the joke in terms of effectiveness.

I wouldn't say fucked up. First he is "intellectually challenged", but doesn't know it ( Dunning Kruger Effect). Second he's just way too close emotionally to sea life because he can speak with them and emote with them - this together with how fucked up nearly all Supes turn out to be has led to some questionable choices.

He's great comic relief and i'm at times a bit sad for him.

You know, if this is actually the end for A-Train... that's not a bad end for him, all things considered. It took him way too long, but it seemed like he actually meant what he said to Hughie. For such a shithead, that's... about the best possible and most sympathetic end probably?

Regardless if the apology was sincere or not, it was far too little and way too late. And, as he was told earlier, he himself had killed to many people to ever be redeemed.

On another topic, as soon was we had the graphic content warning at the beginning I knew Deep was going to finally get it on with an octopus.

Started watching The Boys from the beginning about 3 weeks ago. I'm caught up after Herogasm so can finally have a peek in this thread. Hell of an episode to finish my binge on! What a wild ride - absolutely head over heels for it. One of the most entertaining and satisfying shows I've seen in a long time.

Now I have to wait patiently with the rest of you for the next episode.

Ditto. It's damn near flawless so far as I'm concerned. I think after S3 I could easily go back and re-watch the whole thing.

Exactly. It just became too on the nose, especially with making him head of Vought.

Just finished episode 7. We finally know what happened to Soldier Boy in the past. I can’t believe his own team did that to him. He was a hero.
I should have seen that twist at the end coming but I didn’t. Makes perfect sense though.
I still don’t get how Hughie and But her working for Soldier Boy is the worse thing ever. I mean sure he’s a dick but Homelander is way worse. I could see an alliance with him to get rid of Homelander would be beneficial. Won’t be now though, with this new information.
Many people last week were speculating that Hughie had fallen to the dark side but I’m glad this episode showed that wasn’t the case. He’s still the most innocent/pure one in the group.

So a sleazebag, somewhat untrustworthy retired talent agent blurts out Soldier Boy is a total fraud that was a WW2 parade ground/propaganda prop of no military worth and his word is gospel?!

From the start Soldier Boy was a toxic over masculine muscle head who had a bullying streak with his team mates and didn't really care about bystanders, but he still tore right through that Spetsnaz squad in the flashback and in recent episodes showed aptitude as a dangerous military or black ops specialist (he was able to smuggle himself through heavily guarded airports, etc).

So my headcanon was that while he saw little to no open action in WW2 and his D-Day landing was staged for the press, he still participated in many black ops missions like Noir did recently in the very tail end of WW2 and through the Cold War (highly classified with SB sworn to secrecy, so the Legend did not know).

    It's official. Butchers a cunt :D

Nice to see Annie continue to get the better of Homelander.

The twist should have been obvious but I definitely didn't see it coming.

It's increasingly clear Soldier Boy has zero redeeming features. Hell, at least you can point to Homelander's sterile upbringing as what moulded him into an arsehole.

    You tried Hughie, you tried.

Much as I enjoyed Mother's Milk punching douchebag stepdad out, that's not the way to resolve this.

Kimiko and Frenchie were, as usual, bloody adorable.

Mention of Novichok was a little too real world for me! At least we know why MM's gas grenade didn't work.

So Temp V fucks you up, again shoulda seen that coming. Surely Butcher has had at least 5 doses by now and Hughie at least 3?

A-Train with Blue Hawk's heart. Again, did not see that coming!

There's still hope for A-Train, I really think Deep is beyond help though.

Soldier Boy is still Jensen Ackles so he has that going for him. :)
It’s also their word against his. For all we know he wasn’t that much of a asshole. Very unlikely though.

I didn't see the Soldier Boy/Homelander link coming maybe because it wasn't in the comics... It's definitely a great move though.

I think Hughie has used it 4 times? Russia, Crimson Countess, Herogasm house, and this episode. Butcher would already be at 5 since he used it once before Hughie did.

Butcher will probably take his 6th dose in the finale. So he would be over the 3-5 limit that should kill him. But I doubt the show would kill off Butcher. I wonder if maybe the only way for Butcher to avoid death from V24 is to take real Compound V and become a permanent supe.

Hughie is at 4. My guess is Starlight will warn Hughie just in the nick of time and stop Hughie from taking the 5th dose that would kill him. Or maybe Hughie will take Compound V and become a permanent supe. It would fit with his character arc of not wanting to be dependent on others saving him.

I don't see Butcher dying and leaving the show, but I've just felt Hughie is gonna die this year for some reason. Not really sure why... His type on the show is unique and there's not really a replacement, but I think part is prob because I watched a bunch of those promotion videos on youtube where cast members discuss the show or each other and it seemed like Jack Quaid wasn't in as many as anyone else. Just made me feel like maybe he had/was moving on.
