We were all playing different characters. Amanda (Row), the director of that episode… I didn’t get any feedback. I didn’t know if I was nailing it. I was asking everyone else, like, ‘You got any feedback, guys? Is she giving you any notes?’ And they were like, ‘No, we don’t know if we’re doing a good job or not.’ Then, I have Runa in my arms and Amanda comes toward me. I was like, ‘Oh, here it is. This is the part where she gives me the feedback and she says I’m doing a good job.’ She comes up to me and she’s like, ‘Oh Christina, I just wanted to say Runa is doing an amazing job. She’s nailing it.’’ And then (Row) walks away. I was like, ‘Okay… and me?’

I had that problem years ago when trying to play Sherlock Holmes on the Sega cd. It was a point and click game where you had to watch scenes performed by actors in order to solve the mystery. I would rerun some scenes multiple times because some of those actors accents made it difficult to understand.

If for some reason you wanted to play these again I believe they have been ported to Steam PC platform relatively recently.

He did an interview in this week’s ready room and he sounded the same to me

He has the same huskiness, but he doesn’t have a Nigerian accent, at least in the same way he does in the show, which is very pronounced. He has an American accent, although you might be able to pick up a trace of his heritage in there.

A small note, I confess. Nothing game changing.

Sheesh. It's amazing how little tolerance some Trek fans can still have towards those not quite in the comfortable majority.

Oh please. His voice annoys me. He could be from Uk speaking in BBC English and his voice would still annoy me. On the others hand, my best friend find his voice extremely sexy! Oh well!

So what's M'Benga going to angst about now that his arc has been resolved in a few episodes? But hey, suddenly he has a first name and a mention of Rukiya's mother!

You realized she was setting up a joke, right?

I understood him fine? Maybe he starts talking with a deeper accent in the second half of the episode though which I have not seen yet.

I have no problem with accents in a TV show especially if there are subtitles. It’s just like when we get subtitles when Vulcan’s talk Vulcan etc, just in a more ‘earthly’ context with earth accents instead of imaginary languages.

This is a problem I've had since the beginning but I don't have the best hearing. I don't have a problem with accents in general but his is hard for me especially combined with that whispery delivery. Every time he comes on I have to either turn the TV way up or turn on the subtitles or I'm bound to have to back it up a couple of times to make something out.

"Closed Captioned" is your friend.

I use it often for sure! That is one thing that is nice in our current technological and cultural day that almost everything is subtitled and many apps even let us choose the font, the size and positioning.

I have no issues understanding M'Benga. There are some accents I have trouble with in the world, but the one Babs is putting on I can understand fine.

I agree. At 10 episodes long, you'd expect a storyline like we see in Picard. However, when each episode stands alone, then each less than great episode feels so much worse. For this reason SNW reminds me Doctor Who ignoring its attempt with going back to serialization with the Flux.

It was a fun episode. The premise was supposed to be stupid, they were living out a children’s story book. I dare you to find any child oriented book and try to make it seem serious to adults. Remember that his daughter was watching the whole thing so you’re essentially seeing the story through her eyes.
