Right. Pon farr is not meant that vulcan males only have sex every 7 years. Its a biological mating cycle that vulcan males need to complete or die. DC Fontana who wrote the episode said as much. Again looking at Spock and Tpring their sex life is pretty boring and sparse. They are vulcan after all.
Why do you assume it's boring. We don't know what they get up to in the privacy of their own boudoirs. Sparse perhaps, due to their physical distance. She's looking to spice it up so maybe he's the missionary/boring one.

I think that the whole "Uhura came in under Kirk" belief grows out of the fact she wasn't in the second pilot (or the first, for that matter), the communications role being filled by Lloyd Haynes character, Alden. If Uhura were a crew member at either of those points, her absence warrants explanation.

It was her day(s) off.

There. Explained. I mean, anyone with a *job* should be able to figure that one out on their own, but...

You know, they really should program some DOT's to act as intruder neutralizers.

Oh. And anyone not authorized to sit in the Captain's chair will automatically cause it to descend into a holding pit below the bridge. Like what SPECTRE does, only without the fireworks.

If that was truly the intention then...I guess it works in that regard. But this isn't the 1960s and that form of "acting" just doesn't work anymore. It pulled me out of the episode and that was the first time that had happened to me when watching this show.
She did remind me a little of Catwoman in the '60s Batman series. Even her costume kind of suggested it.
