It's a kick-ass battlewagon in STO. Love it.

Remember the Vulcan cruiser Sh'vhal from Season 2, episode "wej Duj"?
Its class is now coming to STO as a tier 6-rated temporal science spearhead (a.k.a. a science vessel made for combat and capable of fighting in the Temporal Cold War).

The class name has been revealed to be: Sh'vhal class.

I doubt that will be the official name if they ever give it one in the show, most likely CBS didn't have one so Cryptic just chose the name of the one example ship we got.

You know, memory-alpha logic. (though memory-alpha adds -type to the end)

I’m fine with that. We need specific class designations. So if STO makes the one example it’s class ship, I’m down with that. It’s licensed and therefore official which for me.

I maintain the J changes shape as suits its needs. Well I would have it it had not turned out that 31st century ships were not very different from 25th century ships.

There were actually a whole bunch of futuristic things that Drexler wanted to do with the E-J. Sadly, none of it came to pass. Wasn’t germane to “Azati Prime”’s plot.

I did up a summary of the Trekyards Crew analysis of the E-J and Drexler's ideas when he designed it back in November. They were probably a bit too lofty to work on ENT's budget, which was likely already strained with the CG effects for that episode in which it was featured.

2.5 hours until this premiers. Could actually be good because they have people from the show actually on it.

The design of the Cerritos has grown in me. I initially didn’t care much for it because I didn’t think a whole lot of thought went into the design, and I also felt it should have been more ‘busy’ looking for a support vessel.

However, I’ve come to appreciate the simplicity of the ship, which harkens back to the TNG (and even TOS) days when things weren’t so overly-designed. If anything, I think they could have made it even more simplistic, by removing the unnecessary gaps in the ship’s pylons.

I just wish they wouldn’t go all ‘Easter eggy’ with the class’s registry numbers. They’re all over the map for no real good reason.

Has it been confirmed by anyone that the registries mean anything?
