I really like snarky buzz-cut girl.
Ortegas? Yeah I want to see an episode featuring her sometime soon.

It's something that really elevates this series: all the characters are fun and well-cast.I really like snarky buzz-cut girl.
Ortegas? Yeah I want to see an episode featuring her sometime soon.
I have no idea why they cast an actor that much older than the character unless they're seriously considering going into the TOS movie timeframe (and to be fair there's a lot of room after TMP to explore)
For some reason I suck with real names and have generally an easy time with fictional ones.Yeah, Ortegas. (Not good with names.)
Sometimes?Sometimes we Trekkies can overthink things.
I suspect they want to get to Kirk as soon as possible. It's easier to get better ratings with such a established character. The actor playing Kirk is already in his late 30s he can't wait too long. Maybe Pike will do 3 seasons. These producers are pretty eager to replace the original show out of canon so it all fits better. I bet we even get remakes of old TOS eps
Nope. Pure fanwank.Did I miss something? Was that specifically stated anywhere?
I think Steve Shives put it best: That may have been the best episode of Star Trek in 20 years.
As a TMP fan I still hate it when they warp out and the impulse engines aren't shut off. :PI still don't like the "warp effect" they use and wish they had stuck with the TNG-era look
I noticed the warp effect with fast-moving stars, too. I loved it. It was right out of TOS Remastered.
The most persistent of wanks.Nope. Pure fanwank.
That's when StarFleet Engineering Corps knew that it had to change the raw material's it uses in it's Air Purification system. Also Starfleet: If this air purifier breaks it becomes a nuke lol
Was the “Gorn communicate with light” new to this episode? That doesn’t seem terribly practical, does it?
I concurThe trap that the Gorn laid was creative. Although, they should've been able to turn the shields on even while connected. It might snap the tunnel but who cares. Or there'd be a tunnel emergency release.
Li-Fi is a "Backup" form of communication when Subspace Radio & regular Radio spectrums are jammed due to natural phenomena. But these are ships that travel faster than light — far, far faster. How does that work?
Yeah, it looks like they’re in hyperspace.I could give missteps too. I still don't like the "warp effect" they use and wish they had stuck with the TNG-era look but even the episode opened with a nice one remeniscent of TOS with La'an giving her log entry over an exterior shot of the ship and just quickly moving stars. (But not "streaking.")
But, in the end, the goodness of the episode overcomes the nits I could give it.
Yeah, that streaky warp effect isn't great. But at least now we know for sure what's under the main hangar deck.
