The Down Under Lounge

Eric Abetz might lose his senate seat.

When he bought in that Jobseekers had to apply for 40 jobs a month, people sent him 1000s of resumes, plus phoned his office, and went to his office asking for work :)

When he opposed gay marriage people mailed rainbow flags to him - I sent him two but I never received any letter of thanks.

What about what happened to Catherine Deves stupid person took one for the team and lost her seat

^ Deves never really had a chance, with a swing against the liberal vote from the previous election. The seat was never her seat.

There are reports that Pauline Hanson may have lost her senate seat. And also that Labor could get to a majority of 77 seats.

Eric Abetz
Craig Kelly
Clive Palmer
Pauline Hanson
Josh Frydenberg
Tim Wilson
Dave Sharma
Katherine Deves
Jason Falinski
Ken Wyatt
Fiona Martin
Katie Allen
Gladys Liu
Amanda Stoker
Ben Mortan
Trent Zimmerman
Kristina Kenneally

There may be more.

In a way, deliberate. Women are sick of old stale pale males telling them what to think. Overdue.

Just looked at the early Senate results. As far as I can tell, not going Labor's way.

and the whinging is already starting with news corpse.

christopher "the poodle" pyne's latest dribbling in the Adelaide morning murdoch goes on about how the Albanese govt was elected by only 31% of the voters.

That not only misrepresents the electoral system but ignores that that at 35% the lnp's primary vote wasn't that much better.

The ABC's Antony Green has also pointed out that teal candidates doing so well was a factor in labor's drop in primary across the country. Given the damage they did to the lnp, they're quite happy with that.

^ There has been a lot of that dribble on twitter - mostly people from either liberal or those right wing minor parties complaining about that. People have pointing out to them that isn't how the system works. I'm glad we have the system that we do.

Oh don't worry more culture wars, that'll fix it /s

Sky News already says the Liberals should lurch further to the right.

There are cries of "stolen election" sssshhhh we don't need that kind of rubbish in Australia thank you Americans.....

The greatest thing of all is that if she loses her Senate seat she will most likely lose it to the Legalise Cannabis Party.

The Legalise Cannabis Party has polled much better than the UAP despite having an extremely small budget and Clive Palmer spending about 100 million on his campaign.

The LNP has now elected Peter Dutton as leader (we got our first Sontaran as potential PM) /s

The National party also has a new leader with David Littleproud

I thought Dutton was Voldemort but I can see the resemblance to a Sontaran.

Normally I feel guilty when I mock someone’s appearance but I don’t feel Quilty when I mock Dutton (same with Trump).

And Labor finally gets a majority.

I look forward seeing Dutton lose at the next election, but got a feeling that certain media will say he is the greatest person ever. Well almost. Pity there is a John Hewson like person in the Liberal party.
