Scotty: "I can change, baby! Just give me one more chance!!"

Pathetic.

Isn't it? But I fear a lot of the voters will not see it for what it is and give him "another chance" and just like the abusive partner he faces zero consequences.

so polls open in the next few hours.

Please please Australia do me proud and make is scummo's last day as P.M.

I honestly don't feel at all optimistic
Worst case hung parliament new election
Somewhat not bad a minority govt. Lib
Best case huge Labor swing which feels unlikely.
Could it also swing to a minority Labor government?

Will be interesting to see what the result is. Hoping for a labor win.

I do roll my eyes at those people who use the hashtag put the majors last - the alternatives are worse. Pauline Hanson or UAP. No fucking way.

Watching the results is interesting. Looks like a labor minority at the moment.

ABC have just said that the coalition won't be able to form a majority at the moment.

There is a possibility that both Dutton and Frydenberg will lose their seats. It will be good riddance to both of them.

It's likely that Mr Potato will retain his seat.

I think labor can get through with a majority, but might be a happen in a few days. Still a good result.

Scummo keeps his seat but done as leader, josbie is likely toast so the sontaran in the skin suit could be next lnp leader.

^ Basically that Birmingham said. Other names were Dan Tehan. And one other. I can't remember, as I don't really care. It's great night for Australia.

Here's hoping the new government will practice what it preaches. God knows it couldn't be worse than the other mob but the idea that one "side" of politics is automatically and unquestionably "better" than the other has always seemed a bit childish (for lack of a better word) to me. Labor's support for the previous government's despicable refugee / asylum seeker policies has greatly diminished them - IMO, at least. There's nothing progressive about locking up kids in so-called detention centres.

Still, it's nice to feel a bit positive about this country for a change. It's an unusual thing.

Not sure why people are so pleased about Frydenberg losing his seat. I'd rather him as opposition leader than the Dutton abomination. Surely we want something better for our country than a racist arsehole leading the opposition.

Glad Keneally missed out. She was a crap premier and the electorate she was parachuted into clearly didn't want her. Can't say I blame them.

labor tried that in 90s with cheryl kernot when she jumped from the Australian Democrats and it blew up in their faces but obviously they didn't learn their lesson.

Eric Abetz might lose his senate seat.

When he bought in that Jobseekers had to apply for 40 jobs a month, people sent him 1000s of resumes, plus phoned his office, and went to his office asking for work :)

When he opposed gay marriage people mailed rainbow flags to him - I sent him two but I never received any letter of thanks.
