Some interesting revelations in Episode 3.

I'm not surprised about her being an Illyrian. That's been canon for me since Vulcan's Glory.

However, it's canon that it was a SECRET and they're Augments.

Also, it calls into question if she's pretending to be a human with the last name "Chin-Riley." It may finally explain why she prefers to be called Number One if she's using an alias she doesn't really remember that well.

Best part of the episode was her carrying around the Aenar like a doll and casually owning La'an. Girl is strong.

It'll be interesting to see the fallout from this with Starfleet and the Federation Council. It was nice to see Pike say "let them come, I'll back you 100 percent".

Or Aenar have bird bones and they are light as f*ck.

Is she related to Kevin Riley?

    Sister or Aunt?

She could have been on Tarsus IV with Kirk?

I want to point out that the D.C. Fontana novel was called Vulcan's Glory where we were first introduced to Number One as an Illyrian. I know you didn't mean Vulcan's Heart.

Actually, Una Chen-Riley back story was publish in one of the first Star Trek paperback in 1981. The Title was the paperback Star Trek Fan Club Annual something. The same book had the story of the rise of the Klingon empire, the Romulan war, back Story of Sarek and Amanda and other short stories I can't remember.
In the back story of Una Chen- Riley, she was the oldest child and she was name Una, meaning number one. They were descendants of Augments that left Earth near the end of the Eugenics War, they name the planet they found after a ancient kingdom on Earth. Una wanted to join Star Fleet, but her people didn't want her to. So she join Star Fleet anyway without her people knowing about it. And she kept the secret of her people from Star Fleet until now. Una back story was written by Gene Roddenbarry himself.
Una home planet was mention in several Star Trek Books.

The back story of Sarek and Amanda is a story of when they first meet. Amanda was marry to someone else, Amanda and her first husband had a Daughter. She was offer a teacher job on Vulcan. Her husband told her no, not to take the job, cause he was a member of the Anti- alien group. She take the job anyway and he had the school blown up with her and their daughter in the school. Sarek was part of the rescue team, he was the one that found Amanda and her daughter. After that she file for a divorce from her husband. Their daughter name was Elisabeth. Amanda had no choice but let her daughter live with her parents cause of the visiting rights of her first husband. The back story of Sarek and Amanda was written by the same guy whom wrote Journey To Babel.

Didn't she also write Vulcan's Glory?

Are Ilyrians augmented humans or a separate humanoid race that practices genetic engineering?

My take is they're aliens but Una modified herself to look human.

That stuff in Far Beyond the Stars with Kira was an approximation of what Dorothy had to put up with.

A lot of people lied to create an animus around her, so its not your fault that it was a really good persistent lie.

You're thinking of Vulcan's Forge, Vulcan's Heart and Vulcan's Soul. They were written by Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz.

True, in her back written Gene Roddenbarry she was refer and name as number one by her parents Her real first was unpronounceable. She had lots special abilities. Cause she was written out, all of her abilities were giving to Khan and Spock, including her unpronounceable first name. It was mention in the back story, not just her having special genetic abilities, her race had those special genetic abilities as well. Like super smart, fast and strong.

1.) Star Trek paperbacks have been published since 1967, so one published in 1981 cannot have been one of the first.

2.) Googling "'Star Trek Fan Club Annual' paperback" turns up only your post to indicate such an item exists.

3.) Searching eBay also doesn't turn up anything that seems to fit your description.

4.) As far as I can tell, no officially licensed paperback was published with that title, and from 1975-92, I was buying every officially licensed Star Trek paperback published by Bantam Books, Ballantine/Del Rey/ and Pocket Books I could get my hands on. I also bought unofficial, unlicensed "Best of Trek" fanzine article collections until the early TNG era. Now, it's more than possible that I missed something along the line, but given how extensive Star Trek fandom is, and how anal Star Trek fandom is about collecting and cataloging even uncanonical esoterica, it is interesting that your paperback and the stories therein, apparently written by two important Star Trek figures have apparently never been mentioned online before your post. You apparently encountered a real rarity.
