Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 2x10 - "Farewell"

I never disliked Wesley Crusher either. He was never my favorite, but I thought it was an interesting character and honestly, he was pretty well-written and performed. I was really happy to see him make an appearance here.

I think "Wesley Hate" became one of those groupthink elements of Star Trek fandom....like hating Star Trek V or saying that ENT's theme song sucks. It's just one of those things that caught fire as a common opinion, and everyone jumped on in without a ton of independent thinking on the subject.

The ENT theme song does suck though. It was still during the days of live TV and you had to listen to it every episode unless you used a VCR or TiVO. It was too big of a change in the wrong direction. Also the lyrics were nonsense. Faith of the heart / strength of the soul - um... OK.

Questions I have for S3:

• Is the Wesley scene a setup for S3 or was it just a cameo? - I.e. will the Travelers show up and will this include Wesley and/or Kore?
• When Rios was talking to the team about staying back, he said something about time and that maybe he was always supposed to be here. Q said "Interesting." Was this just him bantering or did he think about some way to save himself via timey wimey stuffy wuffy and we might see him again? I liked the ending we got, but it didn't really explain what was happening to Q.
• Obviously, the big questions are about the transwarp conduit, we will find out more about that next season.

In ST: Discovery it was mentioned that the Q hadn't been in contact with the Federation since the 26th century (I think)... in fact, well past early 25th century.

So, I would imagine that it was just this Q who died... not all of them.
I wouldn't be surprised if another Q (perhaps his son) was maintaining contact with UFP.

Excellent point! I forgot about that line. So, yes, there should definitely be some other Q's floating about out there. Although I thought this was a pretty good way of closing the book on that particular plot device. Something new should be approached.

I wonder where that new transwarp conduit wormhole thingy goes...

true, however when I was working in tech support it was unbelievable how many people never did any kind of backup and then came to me crying when their HDs died. Soong is literally a mad scientist, and a somewhat computer-illiterate one (not even a login password on his own computer? Really?), so one might expect it from him.

Even if files are deleted they can be recovered.

depends on how are deleted. And it’s never easy nor neatly done, especially for big files. And even so: you know they can, does the aforementioned computer illiterate?

I finally got to see a 'Giant Wave Motion Gun Blast' in Star Trek or the effects of one and a 'StarShip Shield Grid Shield Wall' all in the same episode. And the Borg took the center tanking position with StarFleet as support of all things. This new "Borg Cooperative?" could be the game changer that StarFleet needs to kick TimeTravel into high gear by the 25th century and prove as a counter balance to the "Borg Collective".

I think Wesley & Kore will show up in S3, it's a TNG reunion set in ST:PIC. Both of them showing up makes sense.
I think Q was honest about dying, so his ability to shift Picard and his team back through time was limited.
Rios wanting to stay back changed Q's original calculations and gave him enough energy to bring back Elnor as a gift.
I think the new Transwarp Conduit is a obvious setup for the Big Bad in ST:PIC Season 3 and will function as a TNG reunion of sorts and a final sendoff for the show.

Obviously, some characters will probably not show up again.
Rios story is done. Borg Queen Jurati might or might not show up.

Seven, Raffi, Elnor are probably going to show up.

Wesley Crusher, Kore, Soji Asha are likely to show up.

Who knows if Narek & Narissa will show up.

I actually like the song, I have the full length version, it's genuinely a good song and fits the ENT theme of humanity's initial foray into the new Space frontier exploration very well.

I got the impression that she was something of a prodigy, much like Wesley was. She was very deftly able to hack into Soong's system and purge all his files ("purge" being a more permanent state of digital non-existence than simply deleting the files, which could be reversed). That demonstrates heightened ability, doubtless imbued by the genetic enhancements that Soong gave her during the cloning process - something valued by the Travelers, apparently. Wesley had no additional powers, to my recollection, aside from a highly developed intellect.

I'm hoping Soji will at least have a small role; seems a shame to get the band back together and not include Data's "daughter". But she was on the Trek cruise with Evagora while S3 was filming, and he just confirmed he's not back for S3. So who knows?

It was an odd scene. Like Neelix hugged Tuvok in the Voyager pilot. Q reacted to being hugged almost like Tuvok did.

Q was never an outright villain nor was he a friend. He was the ultimate Star Trek frenemy. Being a complete and utter asshole at times but a friend who helps teach important lessons at others and sometimes he does both at one and the same time.

according to Alison pill she’s not in season 3. The queen could easily be back with the helmet closed, of course.

I like the song (enough that I learnt to play it, actually!), I just never found it fitting with the show.

We concur, it's the Pop remix of the same song. And it wasn't necessary or better than the original version.

It’s not a remix, it’s a re-recording with a different, much generic, arrangement that loses pretty much all the magic in favour of a more upbeat feel.

Tallinn was just very objective-orientated. She doesn't hate Guinan.
