I didn't buy the "always losing" thing just like I didn't buy the "it's not about perfect. You're lonely" thing. The Borg had a very long and successful career of assimilating other races. It was only relatively recently that they started losing to the Federation. Also, "losing in every timeline"? I don't know about that!

They oversold those points trying to make the persuasion more feasible. In the end, I can kind of buy the persuasion but more because Agnes is in there.
Realistically everyone is going to lose in every timeline if you wait long enough. If the Borg assimilated entire worlds during those centuries, what does it matter if they lose in some far point in the future? Won't undo the damage to the victims.

Oh, I get the impact on Raffi at seeing Elnor, and she played that initial reaction perfectly. I'm not buying that the hologram of Elnor would know Elnor's final thoughts. But I don't think Elnor will be back. I took that scene as being the writers closing out his story. I could be wrong but we'll see . . .

If Elnor is back then that scene becomes a bit pointless (but there have been pointless episodes so I guess not argument against it, now that I think about it!)

I don't think pointless, so much as unsatisfying. Like I said, I think Q is going to somehow reset things and put Picard in a position where he can offer the hand of friendship to Queen Agnes, which means we're probably going to go back to just before the explosion, when everyone's alive and well. But before that (and potentially after) there's a LOT to wrap up in the finale, and the writers need to prioritize what gets screentime. And my guess is that a Raffi and Elnor heart-to-heart didn't make the cut. Holo Elnor absolving Raffi of her guilt at least puts some kind of cap on Raffi's arc, even if it's a weak resolution.

I know no one probably cares what I voted for this episode, but it says I gave it a "2" when I actually intended to give it a "7". I was pushing the scroll down button on my keyboard and it moved the cursor down to the two instead or the seven, and there was no way to edit my vote once I realized my mistake. So while I was not blown away by this episode, I certainly didn't think it was level "2" bad. Such are the dangers of typing with shaky hands and terrible eyesight. ;)

Just a quickie for my predictions:
- Rios will stay in the 24th century, he'll somehow be forced to in order to help the others escape or something like that.
As Rios was fiddling with Talinn's equipment, I somehow got the thought that he'd stay behind in the present to serve as a watcher. I just got that impression . . . but I don't think it was based on anything substantial! Kind of a have your cake and eat it too. Being a watcher, he'd be able to stay and yet know how to avoid changing the timeline. Or maybe they establish an ongoing need to prevent changes with which he can help. Teresa could be his Roberta Lincoln.

This makes logical sense, but there's no way for the characters - who only inhabit a single timeline - to split into two. Plus if alternate universes split off with each decision made, logically speaking every possible success and failure must take place. So there's no possible agency that the individual characters can have, since both outcomes are certain.
I am wondering if somehow it relates to Reenee vs Rene? Reenee should survive the Europa mission which leads to Rene dying in the fire.

Not sure if that's what they're going for because I don't see how it adds to the story or has any meaning beyond names that sound the same.

"I used to imagine seeing her older, offering me a cup of tea, and asking for a chat" :D

So his dad really looked like that and he did not recognize him
And where was Robert all this time?
Away at a boarding school? (He was the older brother.)

I give this one another 8.

It was entertaining in that it (again) didn't just follow the old TNG pattern of moving directly from A to B to C predictably an it had a number of moments I didn't expect. I also like that honestly, in the end this IS a story about Jean Luc Picard and a childhood trauma he's finally coming to grips with. That type of guilt would screw anyone up for life.

The above said, yes, it would have been nice if they made the story a bit tighter and didn't just effectively have the characters running around somewhat aimlessly for a lot of this season. This story could have been tightly told in 5 episodes.

About the only really telegraphed thing is the ultimate ending where we see the 'Jurati blended' Borg Queen and her 'New Cohesive Collective' of Borg who WANT to be Borg.
^^^
So yeah, either they're going to really rewrite the Prime Timeline here; or somehow create a 'branching timeline' that is 'saved' somehow thanks to Picard and Q. (Yeah, doesn't actually sound that great to me either - but who knows, I could be 100% wrong here too...;))

We'll see next week. PLUS - next week I have the season premiere of a new (yet old)Trek show I'm REALLY looking forward to (), as well as the "Picard" S2 finale.

Eh, I'm willing to give it a pass, because I presume the (non-sentient) holograms are just programmed to know the appropriate things to say at times like this. It might be a simulacrum of empathy, but it's good enough to trick the human mind.
That could very well be. It makes Raffi pouring her heart out to it make even less sense. But, humans talk to their pets, so I guess it's a natural reaction. I can go with your line of thinking.

They have the rollbar back to front on that Miranda Class. I've seen people make that mistake before, the narrower end of the photon torpedo pod should point forwards and the wider part with the rounded projection should point aft.
Finescale Model magazine once ran an article with a Reliant that had that exact same error.

Yes I get it. This is an echo chamber and dissenting opinions are not welcome here.

Have a good day.
Well, in a discussion - people like more than someone with the single argument:

"I screamed this show is garbage..."

If that's your opinion - that's your opinion, and it's a valid one - in the same way that someone who likes the show might say:

"I screamed this show is good..."

But yeah, neither opinion as stated leaves much to discuss.

Not sure if that's what they're going for because I don't see how it adds to the story or has any meaning beyond names that sound the same.

Why would they bring Picard's nephew out of nowhere, who hasn't been mentioned all season?

Only superfans who remember the episode Family and Generations likely even remember him...and probably not his name.
