Glad I’m not the only one then.

I think that it ties in well with the fact that Q has never been good or evil, he just is. It seeming like quite an evil act for the majority of the season then turning out to be a twisted way to help Picard work through his greatest hidden pain would be a very Q thing to do.
Q still shows outward disdain for bipeds.

I rewatched DS9's 'Q-Less' a few days ago. I'd forgotten Q essentially tortured Vash when she said she'd be fine without him. He made her again feel the effects of that sickness Q had cured her of on that one planet. A little corporeal punishment.

Yeah my point isn’t perfect at all but in his own weird Q way he did that to Vash because he liked her.

Yeah, I think so, too.

I think John de Lancie said he thought Q shouldn't be chasing skirts or something. But I think what was unspoken by the writers is that Q needs an attachment to mortality. If it's not Picard, it's somebody else. Anything to break up the monotony because "We've all been the scarecrow!"

Maybe some day it will. Again, not trying to be flip but I don't treat Star Trek as a "really intelligent series." It can have smart episodes but it was never the smartest kid in the room, as it where, at least not to me.

And that's the power of story. We take in meaning whether to the story means it or not. I prefer that over trusting the writers of something that they themselves may not see in terms of poignancy.
We agree!

Why would Rios bring someone onboard his ship?

Hmmm...let's think. A human being, thrown in to an uncomfortable situation, finds solace in a personal connection despite very different backgrounds and wants to share something that is very special to him with the person he loves?

Nope, no sane reason I can see whatsoever.

The "mystery box" style of the show still annoys me when I think about it. Instead of dragging out what was going on with Q for the whole season, having Q tell Picard in episode 2 that he was dying and was giving him/humanity one last trial would have worked better for me than him just speaking in riddles to Picard.

They're also teasing out information as "reveals" that either aren't worth the build up, or, as with Raffi and Seven's relationship issues, should have been presented as basic character motivations early on. And it all just adds to the feeling that full-on serialized storytelling just isn't a good fit for Trek.

And in the process he messes up the timeline and countless lives for a woman he met for what a couple hours..two days, but as long as he's happy and comforted. Sorry, I don't buy this love story.

Then again, I think, if they escape (as Q put it) properly, then it won't matter what they incidentally did, though the 29th century timecops will be pulling out their hair again.

Well, I can see why Rios prefers to kiss Teresa instead of Agnes. Who wants to kiss the Borg Queen in disguise voluntarily? Except Data, of course....

Soong's UV Shields would have blocked the Xindi Probe from turning Florida into a trench.

Sorry.

Soong's UV Shields would have blocked the Xindi Probe from turning Florida into a bigger trench.
I would surmise that it is becoming very clear why Florida becomes the Xindi's prime target. ;)

I hope he goes back to the future and finds out that some of his friends just don't exist anymore because of all the butterflies he's been stomping on in the name of love.

I mean obviously I'm joking, but if I was Admiral Hardgrit and I had a full report of his actions during this time travel adventure, I'd be seriously rethinking who gets the comfiest seat on the Stargazer bridge from now on.

Rios is just living in the bold adventurous spirit of Kirk, Janeway and Sisko.

"In the future, try to avoid time travel."
