I always used to think Jack would turn out to be Jackson Roykirk (inventor of Nomad) but since Roykirk was apparently born in 1945, that'd make him only 12 years old when "Carbon Creek" took place. So it looks like that won't work.
I don't think it was said explicitly but he's graduated high school and trying to apply to college so 17-18? Maybe 16? Definitely not 12 though.

This is what I love about this fanbase.
Completely dismiss a fun fan theory (even one's own) because a few dates only mentioned in passing are off by a few years.

It's just as I said. You can keep deluding yourselves into thinking this show is successful but the data speaks for itself.
It had the chance to run for 1,378,912 seasons but it blew it.
We're getting into endgame for the season; the pace has to pick up soon.
They pretty much did the same thing with Season 1. The series wrapped up rather quickly in episodes 9 and (mostly) 10.
It's not the pace, it's figuring out where it's going. How do the Soongs and Picard's ancestor connect and how does that lead to whether or not we get the Federation or Confederation?
They've done a ton of twists and turns, but we should've known general track they're heading down and how things connect by now. I hope they lay it out in Episode 8 and then Episodes 9 and 10 are actually doing it.
I don't know. If I'm the one who's criticizing this of all people, that's not good.
