Thanks guys!

Yeah, I'm thinking a patrol/scout ship

Here's an Excelsior redesign concept:

Now THAT is how you do a refit!

I really like that refit. The removal of the aft hump also, surprisingly, lets this secondary hull look fairly similar to the Olympic secondary hull.

It does kind of look like that!

Your rendering style is absolutely lovely. And what an eye for perspective, I commend your skill!
Thanks! Though I do make crude 3D models up to help with that. At the same time, I do think working in 3D help you understand perspective better!

Alas, the Ambassador class! I think the C is overlooked too much, she deserves an update. I took some inspiration from the Probert concept for this, but I wanted to keep most of the original lines.

This could work as an early to mid 24th century update for the Excelsior class.
The late 24th century/early 25th century would have more TNG/post TNG type design... overall shape would remain the same, but with the saucer section rim being more in line with post TNG designs... a bit more revamped nacelles with visible bussard collectors (aka red color)... and of course phaser strips.

It makes sense SF would be updating the design over the times that would change the overall look of the ship itself while still retaining it as the same 'class' of ships... no need for making 'variants'.

I also didn't mind the secondary hull 'bulge' addition to the Excelsior (for the ENT-B as seen in Generations movie)... something like this could possibly work here too.

I like it... as a simple update to the design (not a late 24th/early 25th century refit).

I wonder how you'd do the Galaxy and Intrepid class ships in that case (not that they need much updating).
:-)

Uniform created for a - as a friend called it - "fanwank"; set in the 27th Century and the USS Enterprise NX 1701 A, the first Europa class pan-Galactic Starship:

This uniform would also work in a Space: 1999 reboot.

This would work, however the spaceframe is too significantly different to be a refit. It may look mostly the same, but I had the original excelsior as a backdrop while I made the study model, and no shape or angle is the same. I will be designing the Generations type refit of this version and a 24th century refit later, not to worry!

I know the refit from TMP suffers from the same problem with such a different spaceframe from the original, but I do want to fix that. I'm going to redesign the phase II Enterprise as the refit, and the A will be a Constitution MK II, an iterative but new ship from the ground up.

I will be doing those as well! I actually did the Galaxy earlier, but I want to redo it and flesh it out a little better.
