I have repeatedly stated that if band mates know each other well enough, and are competent, they can do this. I can't explain to you something you don't even think exists.

I don’t know about your life experience, I know that I’ve been playing in several situations, including bands similar to the one depicted here, and it’s just not possible to do a performance like this without having a written score beforehand. But you say it’s easy…well, I guess that people whose job is to write such scores should be out of business!

That's right, you don't know, and you clearly don't understand how popular songs are often requested by audiences, which is utterly baffling to me considering you've apparently been in bands similar to the ones depicted in the episode. I'm sorry you haven't experienced the fun in playing impromptu songs firsthand.

again, that stuff is written. It’s not something you can improvise. It’s like asking ten people to write a book at the same time and expecting them to come out with the same words exactly.

NO, it's like a band that's been playing together for years and years being able to riff a classic song with a new singer and have it come out sounding like it was well rehearsed.

I'm sorry you've never had that experience, perhaps it's time to find a new profession.
 
An Easter egg I haven't seen anyone else mention is that when Picard went to speak to Renee, he said that Doctor Jemison was going to be making the toast on the stage. That would of course be Mae Jemison, the first black women in space, who made a cameo appearance on Star Trek the Next Generation.

DR. Jemison was a guy in this particular instance, but it could be a relative I suppose.

They can play an impromptu song? Sure, I’ve done it many times. But not coming out with a full WRITTEN brass instrumentation. But somehow you find this difficult to grasp.

i’ve hosted situations where guest singers could go on stage and request any song…To a quarter/quintet, not with a brass section playing complex instrumentation out of thin air.. But I guess that scores and rehearsals mean nothing to you, they all come out “easily enough”.

Yeah, I mentioned this in one of the other episode threads. Once the timeline is fixed, the season is effectively over except for some character clean-up moments. I don't expect to see the 25th Century again until the last ep.

as I wrote above, this is the closest to an explanation you can get…Jurati somehow discovered that the song was in the band repertoire. And has perfect pitch to get in the right key for the brass (you can’t transpose this kind of stuff freely). And somehow arranged for them to have the scores ready at the right moment (or they play it at every gig and everyone knows it by memory). And all of this in the span of a few seconds, to do her last minute diversion.
 
They could have filled in the time gap of the episode by showing them rushing Picard to the doctor in a sweet sports car along with cool music like this...

If this all turns out to be a Q-induced dream none of this will matter, because in dreams all things are possible.

I think Q actually went into the past, changed his appearance and became the rapper Q-Tip.

Not quite. Similar overall delta shape, but different detailing.

Here’s the OV-165.

And here’s Archer’s model, which is considered a “Martin-class Orbital Shuttle” in the Eaglemoss magazine.

There’s also the Emette class Cruiser and the Delta class Destroyer, also from Enterprise.

They really liked their “Delta” designs back then, didn’t they?

You're making an awful lot of assumptions. I write music myself, and understand the value of musical arrangement, but the fact is that what we saw in Picard is not only plausible, but occurs quite frequently among people who are intuitive with their band mates, and are competent with their instruments. You don't have to accept the reality for it to be true, but it would make the conversation more amicable. At the very least, you might stop with the insinuations that I don't care about rehearsals and scores, since it's bullshit and utterly fucking unnecessary. Who the fuck gets mad at someone for experiencing something they haven't? Goddamn, unclench.

Just my two bits on that one, though.
