Emmett speaks Spanish, Seven communicates with him in English, he responds in Spanish, yet Seven understands him.

I'm confused. I don't get it.

William Hurt passed away yesterday at age 71.

Sir Patrick dying on the set is a very real possibility. :(

Great ep. Voyager Seven came out with a vengeance!

Is there going to be a boring 15-minute silent vineyard scene every single episode this season, too? Enough of that stuff - has nothing to do with star trek.

There has not, in fact, been a boring 15-minute silent vineyard scene in any episode yet in the entire show.

There have been scenes set at the vineyard, sure, which have been used to establish details about Picard's life, but none of them have been 15 minutes of silence...and none have been boring. And we've only seen the vineyard in a handful of episodes, scene-setters before heading back out into space.

I'm quite certain they are watching a different show. The last phrase I have heard people use to describe Picard Season 2 has been "boring." In fact, it is all action and excitement, which is more in line with Nemesis and First Contact. Mileage will vary on whether that is good.

This very episode had 15 minutes at the beginning where literally nothing happened - just empty, dumb dialog. That stuff can be done in 3 minutes. Everyone has different opinions, but none of the best star trek episodes have 15 minutes of pure dialog - and if they do then it's provocative or interesting not Picard talking about his past - or whatever the hell that was about...I've already forgotten.

The only scenes I remember on the Vineyard were the opening scenes with Laris (which established the potential for romance) and the little infodump with the admiral.

If any scene was narratively unneeded, it was meeting Guinan, as she didn't say anything that he didn't already hear from Laris or Raffi.
