Watching the episode now. Almost over. 2 quick thoughts.

• The Confederation is FAR more interesting and competent than the increasingly ridiculous and incredulous Mirror Universe. This is a familiar totalitarianism, not a ridiculous one with agony booths, everyone carrying daggers, and murders in the turbolifts.
• The ceremony stage and layout with the bleachers to the right and left is 100% supposed to echo the Q's Court Room in Encounter at Farpoint and All Good Things. Makes me wonder if the divergence is that something happened in 2024 that prevents World War III, and thus humanity getting the biggest lesson of all about living with differences.

Absolutely de Lancie’s best performance as Q. It’s not even close. Still reeling from it. He and Stewart were just electric.

Also interesting that Chabon got a “story by” credit. Always loved his contributions.

Watching. Enjoying it for the most part, but boy, this schtick with Elnor acting like an unusually dense child is going to get old quick.

Another 9 from me, though the season overall will probably get a Ten.

Elnor is still living by the Absolute Candor axiom the nuns taught him.
He was indoctrinated as a child, it's not easy to just forget something that has been your soul purpose for a decade or more.
He's learning now with Raffi's help how to respond with other means.
Also, you do realize that he was faking it while Raffi fiddled with the shield controls, right?

I don't generally think of it as such, but I was reminded of how I quoted Picard once (I think it was from "I, Borg") and got in trouble with my mom for using a bad word.

I can't even begin to express how grateful and happy I am, that PIC has the balls to stay with the great new Klingon design for this instead of succumbing to the pressure of basement dwelling neckbeards like the last two DISCO season seem to have. I love it, it looks fantastic
