He was crying because he "identified" with Adira and Gray
He identified with Tilly trying to get validation from her parents.i thought he cried when talking to Mary Wiseman because he identified with Tilly about something.
There's nothing wrong with crying over something you like.
Emotions are a natural part of life, supressing them is unhealthy.
Whoa, it really does have two directors credited! That's not just unusual, I think that's actually unprecedented for Star Trek, at least for the live action episodes.
There isnt really much of an aversion to emotion. That is something posters are getting tarred with because some of us believe that there are a few too many scenes of they are terribly written when they are put in.1000%
I mean, I don't get where this aversion to emotions comes from in some spaces in fandom. I was brought up in a pretty "tough guy" environment, and I did stereotypical "tough guy" things all through life (played football into college, for example, which is considered a pretty meathead thing to do by many), and I have no issue with tears or open emotionalism in drama or in real life. Passion is a beautiful thing sometimes. Let people show it!

Prime example was Tilly's promotion scene.
I get "misty eyed" during poignant moments in TV/movies fairly often.
But The Visitor is the only Trek episode that can make me bawl.
Seems to suggest there were extensive reshoots due to something not working out, no?
I know your being humourous but terms like oppressed are way over the top.So, you've been oppressed with a slanderous and inaccurate slant on your well-founded and completely objective criticisms...primarily in an attempt to discredit your completely thoughtful and constructive negative opinions?
That must be tough.

Jake and Kira on the promenade at the end of DS9. Also Kira and Odos goodbye. The Visitor definitely gets me. Other candidates (ranging from misty-eyed to bawl):
The father/son "very proud" scene in TWOK (hits me more now as a father than it ever did in the past)
The "oh...oh it's me!" revelation in The Inner Light
George Kirk's final moments in Star Trek (great combination of performance and musical score)
I'm sure there are a few others....Picard's final scene in ...All Good Things (at the poker table) is pretty emotional as well.
I was definitely being tongue-in-cheek (to some extent of course)....!I know your being humourous but terms like oppressed are way over the top.
They used to say the same about commander Nhan, though…My prediction is that Gray and Adira will come back at the end of the season and save the day somehow. There's no way they just "wrote them out" of the show.

Also, Gray at least got a mention by Stamets in this one about settling into his new life on Trill. Nhan was completely forgotten about the moment she was left on the seed ship.
I haven't been able to watch The Visitor or Buffy's The Body ever since my mom died over five years ago because the emotions are too overwhelming.I get "misty eyed" during poignant moments in TV/movies fairly often.
But The Visitor is the only Trek episode that can make me bawl.
