Spoilers General Prodigy plot-arc speculation thread...

It was a stray speculation on my part to be fair, but I'm certainly glas Chakotay wasn't Dreadnok.

‪‪I’d read and heard it speculated elsewhere as well, it was a bit far fetched, but not at all an impossibility when it first came up. And ‪‪I agree for sure, it’s a good thing there was no “Drednok is Chakotay,” reveal.

And germane to this subject, ‪‪I think we may still see more of Drednok down the line. Sure he was decapitated by the Caitian kid, but he was also duplicated once already on the Protostar.

Yeah, when the writers revealed he could duplicate himself with a replicator they opened the door for him to keep reappearing as much as they want him to.

Who knows, maybe there's a copy of his program/consciousness hidden in the Protostar system when that last one was uploaded (when the ship went through an Ion Storm) - but you'd think that Gwyn would have had the sense to check for it and purge it from their systems if she had found a copy.

Otherwise, the only other option that we're left with would be he's hiding in a memory bank of the REV-12... and if that's out of the picture too... then I don't see Drednok coming back (unless they end up rebuilding him intentionally).

With the Diviner now on the Dauntless, and the Denobulan starfleet officer quite possibly also being picked up (with a tale of how a bunch of kids sabotaged and blew up the relay station), I wonder what this means for the rest of the season:
with the possibility that Ensign Ascencia is the hidden Vau N'akat with a similar goal as the Diviner, in that case she may have the possibility/ability to restore the Diviner or at least get some information out of him (and maybe manipulate that for Janeway's benefit).
The Denobulan has seen Gwyn and may notice the similarities to the Diviner, if Ascencia is a Vau N'akat she will probably be able to figure out quickly there is another Vau N'akat among the fugitives.

There also seem to be setting up something longer term for Dal, because all the consoles flashing red when he is scanned sounds more than a little ominous. Though maybe it is because he may have genetically manipulated, and the Federation seems to really dislike that for some reason.

In the Borg episode, ensign Asencia is coming clearly to the fore, especially with her suggestion on how to revive the Diviner. While she is perfectly in character as a promising/brilliant young Starfleet ensign, the possibilities if she would be duplicitous are endless.

Speaking about the Diviner, it seems he is back and may yet be the big bad at the end of the show (or at least the end of S1 and/or S2).

Another corrupt Starfleet officer?
Corrupt wouldn't be the word, more like Seska and Ro Laren were duplicitous (but not corrupt, certainly not in the Buenamigo sense) on Voyager and TNG, respectively.

This is still speculation, but the character apparently will be "a pain in the ass" (but has so far been presented as nothing like, say, Mariner from Lower Decks), she gets the spotlight and according to an old casting rumour, there may be an ensign who's actually someone masquerading much like Seska was (as a Cardassian pretending to be Bajoran among the Maquis). She also is very smart/competent. It seems like it would fit if Asencia has ulterior motives and is not who she seems to be. And if so, vice-admiral Janeway will have a major problem before the end of the season.

The term is irritating. How many duplicitous, corrupt, or asshole officers dies Starfleet have?

I'm wondering if the Diviner's actions on the Dauntless will inadvertently cause the disastrous first contact with Solum, Shakespeare style.

I hope not. After all, the Diviner (and other Vau N'Akat, apparently) went back in time after it already happened. So, while he could still be the cause or a cause of a disastrous first contact in this timeline, that wasn't how it originally went. And I would like a good ending, one where the disaster of the Diviner's timeline can be averted (or is at least left ambiguously).

It is also the question to what extent the first (and subsequent) contact is responsible, as there must have been deeper issues with Vau N'Akat society. The presence of at least 2 Vau N'akat on Starfleet vessels may help gain Janeway and co understanding of what those issues are, so they can take advantage of it when do they make contact (and they could potentially use Gwyn as part of that first contact, or even other Vau N'akat should those also be willing to change their point of view).

Another corrupt Starfleet officer?

:sigh::rolleyes:
Casting leaks
If the leak is correct, they're not a Starfleet officer or even a Trill, just pretending to be one (probably replaced the actual Lt.). So no, she's probably not 'another corrupt Starfleet officer'.
