We're going to see Kirk at the Academy at some point so...I'd say we get at least one scene with him hanging around the grounds with Finnagin and Mitchell, and perhaps an Admiral Mallory talking to him randomly, could be fit in discretely yes.

As for it happening *shrugs* they may miss that out.

I know its probably a complete coincidence, and I know you are all referring to Admiral R Mallory, but in the Shatnerverse (not canon btw) Kirk is helped into the academy by a Eugene Mallory, I wonder if the surname coincidence was meant or not.
