Well, I just watched Beebo Saves Christmas (it seems more sensible to discuss it here than start a whole new thread, since it's sort of a "spinoff" of LoT). I didn't care for the character design style, but otherwise it's a fun special, with effective humor (if a bit too snarky at times) and clever songs. It's nicely nuanced, in that the villain isn't really villainous, just disagreeing on how to do the right thing.

I was hoping this would be presented as a holiday special that exists within the Arrowverse/Earth-Prime, something we might see the characters in the Arrowverse shows watching during the holiday season, but no such luck. There are no references to superheroes existing, and there are a couple of metatextual references, like the tech-savvy character talking about doing some torrent-y thing with CW episode streams, and a sight gag at the end of Beebo getting a "Legends of Tomor-Bo" DVD (well, since it's Beebo, probably a Blu-Ray) as a present.

I think it's odd that Beebo special seems to have no connection to LoT beyond being a blue teddy named Beebo. My DVR didn't even pick it up as part of LoT whereas it will record promo/bonus stuff related to The Walking Dead or Doctor Who and so on. From what I gather there's no sly cameos or anything really connecting it except the subtle nod of having Garber narrate. Nothing wrong with that I guess but it just seemed odd inspiration for a generic Christmas special.

EDIT: Now what would have been wonderfully meta would be if the CW made a Beebo toy and this was used as a tie-in to announce and promote it in the same way this special probably actually would in the LoT verse.

Also Santa was Ernie Hudson, who played Diggle's father on Arrow. Although that was a one-shot guest role, so it's not quite the same.

Meanwhile, I'm expecting the "Fleabo" character from the Christmas special to get a call from Oscar the Grouch's lawyers any day now...

So where was the Beebo special? Is it On Demand?

Also -- can't believe we have to wait until January for new episodes? And i can't believe that i actually want to see more episodes!

It’s on the CW app. That’s where I watched it. I enjoyed it much more than I expected. I did not realize Beebo is voiced by the same actor who voices Baby Gonzo on the current Muppet Babies.

I didn't know Ben Diskin was playing Gonzo. I know him mainly for playing two different Venom hosts in two different Spider-Man cartoons -- Eddie Brock in The Spectacular Spider-Man and Flash Thompson in Marvel's Spider-Man. He's also Skeletor in the recent 3D-animated He-Man reboot, and the main droid in that really bad The Clone Wars 4-parter about a team of droids. Versatile guy.

    Knocked up? Is someone pregnant?
I finally got caught up this morning. Legends has pretty consistently been my favorite Arrowverse show for the last several seasons and that trend is continuing this season.
I love the running gag when they introduced Gwyn that everyone thought he looked familiar, and of course this week we finally get Zari 2.0 as the one who recognized that he looks like Constantine.
Really liked what they did with Bishop, I was a little annoyed at first that they went back to him as the villain, but once his story got going I really liked it. Evil Gideon has been a good villain, and I'm curious to see more of her evil android Legends.
I'm actually disappointed they killed Bishop in the last one, that episode was actually making me look forward to him becoming a Legend.
I remember some of the earlier seasons kind of ignored some of the racism and other prejudices of the eras they visited, so it's nice to see them actually dealing with it now.

According to the writers, the intention was that this is the Beebo holiday special that a lot of our favorite characters grew up watching. The only problem with that is some of the technology in the special (especially mobile phone technology) is too advanced to have been around when people like Barry and Oliver were children. Unless some Earth-Prime technology advanced faster than in the real world.

Some background can be found at TVInsider. Producer Kevin Shinick says that the belief is that the special came first, followed by the toy (as we saw on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the toy was the big seller during the holiday season 1992).

I showed the most recent ep to my 19 yr old friend, Mel, who's helping me during the day. They'd never seen it before (but has some comic knowledge) and rarely makes it through a full episode of anything. They LOVED it! My "crazy auntie" points have gone up.

I noticed they're repeating Beebo Saves Christmas on 12/21 for anyone who might find that useful.

Interesting that they managed to do a whole episode without the actual Legends, except in the beginning. By focusing the whole thing on the villains, they ended up doing something unusual for the show, a story with a genuinely tragic ending, where the good the Legends did got undone and Android Sara's rebellion completely failed. Although they still managed to work in a lot of goofy humor -- perhaps too much, with the androids' alternate personalities being pretty broad.

Don't they have 2D floating Holographic tech in that world?

And they have hand held energy blasters that are actually decent.

I'm really loving the evil robot dopplegangers created by Evil Gideon.

It really feels like a Sentai episode with the Dark versions of the team, but they're stretching it for an entire season.

And Evil Nate being ridiculously buffer than John Cena was hilarious while being the stereo typical jock.

So did they stick Nick Zano's head on someone else's body or put him in a very convincing muscle-suit? Either way it was very well done.
