The sentence you quote was a response to (and quoted) this statement:
I still say TOS can be left alone as there was probably a full refit between Pike and Kirk.
In other words, I was suggesting that
when we see Kirk and Spock on their missions a few years from now, the visual design and continuity details of TOS will be replaced by those they've been establishing for Trek ever since the premiere of
Enterprise and throughout STD and, shortly. SNW.
They won't bother explaining it. Does anyone remember how they showed clips from "The Cage" at the beginning of that STD episode, and then when they got to Talos nothing looked like it did in the opening clips?*
I haven't said a damned thing about a "remake" and I don't give a fuck whether someone calls it a reboot or a potato.
They'll do episodes and I assume a series set aboard the Enterprise during the time period of the original
Star Trek, with Kirk as captain and Spock as first officer and, one would expect, McCoy and Scotty too.
That's not a "remake" unless they retell stories from the original series. I have no opinion or guess, one way or the other, on how likely that is with respect to a particular story. I suppose it's not hard to imagine them doing a series of mostly new stories and once in a while dipping into the events from one of the original episodes. For example, they could certainly easily frame an episode by placing it just after one of the TOS stories. Certainly they could sequelize one or more of those stories.
*Myself, I'd at least have cast women as the Talosian Magistrate and entourage, and fiddled with their voices a bit. I dunno, maybe they were looking to the Malachi Throne version.
