Okay here is it. By a "superfan" named Leslie Thomson

It's like it was posted yesterday!!!!! Even has the ever popular "We're supposed to sit back and accept it".

While he lost me at “affront to Star Trek fans,” he does have a point that change for the sake of change is not progress.

You made a sweeping generalization about people who would question a backstage photo of aliens that look nothing like the Klingons they’ve seen for the last 40+ years. That makes them all idiots?

My definition of an idiot in such context is someone who would blindly and unquestioningly believe everything that’s told to them.
If they're identified as Klingons, then they're Klingons. You said "I can clearly recall the posts about those photos, and people questioning if those aliens were in fact Klingons despite the photo caption. " That takes a certain amount of obstinacy.

Yes, because a caption to a grainy photo that some guy took surreptitiously with his cellphone carries so much weight.

As has often been said this is art. Art moves forward through change.

Art is subjective.

So now it's a "grainy photo".

Semantics. It was not an official photo CBS took. It was a cellphone pic in the back lot of actors in their Klingon makeup and costumes seen from the back, before the official word came down that they were in fact the new DSC Klingons. Unlike you, I wouldn’t condemn people for thinking they were something otherwise.

As for ‘art’: The new Klingon design had nothing to do with art. It had to do with them trying to hide the fact that Shazad Latif was playing both Tyler and Vok.

More details....
And if it was an official photo with a caption?

As for ‘art’: The new Klingon design had nothing to do with art.
It has everything to do with art. It's the same reason and approach they took with Klingons in Into Darkness. Into Darkness didn't blindly recreate other era Klingons. They came up with ideas and gave them to the make up department to bring to life. That is the nature of art. But, as you say, art is subjective.

Then people still wouldn’t be ‘idiots’ for questioning it. It’s human nature to be suspicious of something that they are not familiar with.

Why didn’t you quote the rest of my sentence, which explains exactly why the DSC Klingons look the way they do?

And you know this how? Glenn Hetrick call you in the middle of the night with a sobbing confession? You break in to Secret Hideout and steal some top secret memos?

Let’s see…DSC credited ‘Javid Iqbal’ as Vok…except Javid Iqbal doesn’t exist. Vok was played by Shazad Latif. Therefore there was a concerted effort to hide the fact that Latif was playing two roles. I don’t need to be Hetrick’s buddy to figure out what they were trying to do.

Yeah, but it's quite a leap to assume that the entire Klingon revamp was created just to hide that. Think about that and how you sound. Very conspiracy theory.

No, that wasn't my question.
Then what was the question?

also, can’t help but notice you ignored something that has been asked you a couple of times: where does it stop? Is a blob with eye a Klingon to you if the dialogue says it is?
Backstage photos of the DSC Klingons were released before the show premiered. I can clearly recall the posts about those photos, and people questioning if those aliens were in fact Klingons despite the photo caption.
Precisely.
I'm sure if TMP pictures of the Klingons circulated without context we would be able to identify them as Klingons right away in the 70s. Right?
possibly. It must be pointed out that the very first shot before their appearance was of an unmistakably Klingon ship, though, something that discovery expressly avoided doing, as they gave their s1 D7 name to a ship that couldn’t look different from a d7.

one might rightly suspect this. And yet many guessed the situation correctly immediately

are we forgetting that Star Trek 2009 gave Klingons helmets just to avoid addressing the look of their foreheads?
