Might be a certificate issue, might be a corrupt registry. You can go into the control panel, apps, and then click "advanced" on Microsoft Solitaire Collection," and reset the app. That should take care of it. I'm pretty sure you'll lose progress on current games, but it should retain everything else.
I hope it works for you. Microsoft can be awfully testy sometimes when it has no reason to be.
Yeah, according to Jean-Michel Jarre analogs are now and then a pretty handful, the oldest he's got are a Moog Modular IIIC and 55, an ARP 2500 and a bunch of 2600's and in an interview he's said about them that on some days they pretty much refuse to produce anything usefull.

Thanks for the advice about the synth. It's an EMU Proteus MPS Orchestral made in 1991 and I bought it in 2006. This is an image of my keyboard showing the yellow battery which I've seen for sale on websites so this is why I'm wondering if it's worth trying it to see if it gives the synth a new lease of life. The circuit board is only very small and doesn't stretch the entire length of the casing. I've never soldered before but I have guitarist friends who would have no problem doing it and if it worked I would then give it a full clean. I've had a good innings with it but will be sad when I have to throw it away especially as it's the Orchestral version which has hundreds of digitally recorded presets. Maybe reseating the ribbon cables is also worth doing but given the symptoms and how they have been progressive I'm convinced it's due to a failing brain which could possibly be fixed by replacing that yellow battery. This is only the second time I've opened the casing since I bought it because I was afraid of causing damage but I can't do much more damage to it now.
and yeah then they ALL went out of tune..
