I sure as hell would. I'd end up like Quinn from VOY's "Death Wish".

I mean, I do look forward to eternal life...just not THIS life. ;)

And no one is talking about living THIS life for an eternity.
Also, Quinn may have opted to die prematurely. For him, he became a mortal and was barely starting out... had no abilities to speak of apart from his knowledge, and even then he'd basically end up with potential loss of memoy because certain things he just might not deem important to remember (plus as a human, his brain would likely not keep hold of all that information - don't get me wrong, he'd still be vastly more knowledgeable than any human in existence... 7 of 9 included probably too, but he'd start forgetting things progressively... unless Q left him with eidetic memory).

When you think about it, immortality has been villified in fiction because the writers often ignore the fact that things keep changing... and as such, people also change over time.
You aren't the same person you were for example 10 years ago.. or heck, even 5 years ago. Society for that matter has changed in a very short time span.

Subtle changes in ones environment have affected people even if they have a seemingly 'same routine' (no things are the same day in and day out - there are always differences). They read more information, gained more knowledge, etc.

The world keeps changing in ever shorter intervals... there is also the whole GALAXY out there (and universe) to explore.
I don't think anyone would get bored.
People just need to start to think about life differently... and scifi writers need to stop villifying immortality because they don't know any better.
OK, point taken. As long as everyone I love is immortal too.

The story of Hob Gadling in Sandman is an interesting take on immortality.
Ooh, I should re-read that!

"Holo-Nanny" :lol:

Of course anime has its own set of tropes that are easily noticeable once you've seena few things. Refreshingly different for a while though. ;)

Boy meets Girl.
Girl is kidnapped by Demon.
Boy spends forty episodes training to FIGHT the Demon (Yes, I'm looking at YOU, Bleach! :shifty: )

Beautiful :)

Little Rylee knocked it out of the park! (WTG furious Rok Tahk! )

I'm sure Dal realizes by now that he doesn't know his butt from a hole in the wall when it comes to flying a starship.

Away missions in Trek seem to be an excellent way for Starfleet to provide some 'perspective' for people who have an issue with being overtly arrogant... or 'too full of themselves'.
I'm hoping this will be an interesting learning experience for them all so they can be better prepared for new away missions in the future.

Flint in TOS watched loved one after loved one grow old and die during his thousands of years of mortal life. That would have to be hard on even the nervous system of someone with virtual immortality.

People get used to that sort of thing. In the middle ages, child mortality was off the scale so people tended not to get overly attached to their kids and were fatalistic about it.
