Was Keiko always a Pah Wraith?

But, again, that seems counter to their overall goals. Merely diminishing the Prophets was not enough. The Pah-Wraiths want to do battle with them. Even as a long game, for nonlinear beings, Keiko doesn't offer much. Unless O'Brien was the original target and they missed.
So...what I really need to be thinking about also is Jennifer Sisko being inhabitted by a Pah-Wraith while pregnant with Jake so he can take part in the Reckoning later?...the Pah Wraiths work in mysterious ways...

Or Jennifer period. If Sisko gets so preoccupied with his wife and her death then he might ignore his calling. Unfortunately, the Prophets are just as mysterious and started hucking orbs everywhere.
Aren't we all?
It gets old after a while.

The Pah Wraith conspiracy runs deeper than I ever imagined...:shifty:

Well, we never got any foreshadowing about Bashir's genetic enhancements, or the real Bashir being in a Jem'Hadar prison for who-knows-how-long. Those things just popped up out of the blue.

Kor
By the same logic, it's equally plausible that Montgomery Scott is a Pah-wraith sleeper agent. Jonathan Archer might have been one too. So, this goes nowhere.

We're just back to the sexist meme that the function Miles's marriage is to make him suffer. That's the meat and potatoes of this "theory."

A million times this. It has been my pet theory for years that most people in the “I hate Keiko” crowd never led a normal, healthy relationship or marriage. The way their partnership is depicted was one of the most realistic on television. They obviously loved each other, had some problems and tried to work them out like people in a healthy relationship do. I do think that the perception of Keiko being a bitch is fed by an overproportionate exposure to unrealistic depictions of relationships in media that fuel unrealistic expectations in real life. And, well, plain old misogyny, of course.
I like Keiko even if she was a bit annoying sometimes.

Not sure how thinking two people don't belong together is sexist, but ok.
I never said that thinking that two characters don't belong together is sexist, but OK. I never said either that simply not liking the character of Keiko is sexist, but OK.

Turning him into the hand-crafted christ-child of the Prophets, custom ordered to save the Alpha Quadrant was a bit much. Not sure if I'd say it "ruined" the show, but I personally think the show would have been better without it.

Thank you, it's good to know I'm not the only person that gets it.

I'm surprised more people aren't put off by it. It's very 'last season of the show so lets just go for it'

Maybe twenty years away from this place has clouded my memory, but I don't ever remember members going at each other like this over something that's clearly a joke.

Keiko-episode-skippers I share your pain.

Just remember, you brought race into the conversation. I see it as any woman using privilege to talk down to anyone, which Keiko does quite often to Miles. It's only racial, if you want to make it about race. That's definitely not satire, it's just the situation.

See:Fascination,Data's Day, and every episode where Nyres is carrying their child. Miles literally goes out of his way to please his wife. Walks on eggshells around her, and she still tells him what to do every step of the way.

I've tried to talk about this tastefully, and for that matter the original question only has a little to do with this, and then others really wanted to drag race and gender into this. I'm going to be blashphemous and say:

It's ok to not like every character on every show you like. Even those of different races or genders. It's not always some anti-woman, racial, or misogynistic thing.

I don't think Keiko talks down to Miles. She just doesn't accept him talking down to her or making unilateral decisions about the quarters they share.
(However, I've been skipping over Fascination the last few times I've rewatched the show and haven't watched TNG that much either.)

I never understood why it would have been so impossible to have an arboretum on DS9. It could have studied Bajoran plants (as well as plants they brought in form the other side of the Wormhole), it owuld have served as a recreational spot for the population of the station etc. etc. etc.

Yet each time the idea even came up, it was instantly dismissed as "busy work" by both Keiko and Miles. And instead they claimed that Keiko, somehow, has to go to Bajor to study plants (she sure seemed happy doing botanist things on the Enterprise...) leading to all that conflict about her being gone and him being alone on the station and all that, which I think is what soured many people towards Keiko.

When it comes down to it, Keiko and Miles both aren't very good at communicating, or even allowing, their emotions.

Bajor has had a civilization for longer than earth. They've probably studied all their plants already. The Enterprise went to a new planet every week. A landing party could collect tricorder readings and samples for Keiko to study on the Enterprise.

Keiko and Miles did both communicate their unhappiness at being separated, they just had trouble finding a better alternative. And Miles spent a while acting silly and jealous because Keiko had male friends and colleages at the scientific expedition she was on.

But she went to Bajor to work as a Botanist. If everything there is already studied, what did she do then? And especially what did she do that couldn't have been done on an Arboretum on DS9?

Sure... Why not just say everybody except Sisko is secretly a Ptah Wraith?

I'm only faux buying into people we've seen inhabitted by Pah Wraiths, at this point. Dukat for sure. If he wasn't pre-destined and born a Pah Wraith, I don't know who is a better candidate...except Keiko...
