Was Keiko always a Pah Wraith?

A lot of Bajor's past knowledge could have been lost or forgotten during that 80-year occupation by a brutal military power.

Kor

Thank you, it's good to know I'm not the only person that gets it.

I'm surprised more people aren't put off by it. It's very 'last season of the show so lets just go for it'
Why should I be?
Maybe twenty years away from this place has clouded my memory, but I don't ever remember members going at each other like this over something that's clearly a joke.

Keiko-episode-skippers I share your pain.
How is it clearly a joke?

You have to use the lemon juice to reveal the invisible ink. It's in the initial post, you just have to put on your tinfoil hat to see it. (real answer:It's kind of hard to pull off a fun exploration of a topic we all know to be false, when the first 3 people jump into it attacking an idea that wasn't specifically asked about...)

Even in the initial post it was not clear. I'm glad others see it but "clearly " part is debatable.

I'm sorry that subtlety and absurdity seem to be traits that have been lost in the last decade. Seems to be a real common thing these days. Too many people ready to run in, pitchforks in hand.

In real life it is far easier than online and in text. Doubling down on "it's just a joke" pretty much confirms the lack of sensitivity to other points of view.

ETA: Also, bearing in mind, that humor is highly subjective. What reads as a joke to one will not to another. I love a lot of British type comedies and my wife finds them completely unfunny. Perhaps she lost these traits as well in her 30 years? :vulcan:

Sure, it's serious in that, you can answer it seriously with in universe scenes, but it was never intended as a real theory to be believed at the end of the day. Take it as seriously as you want, and I'm never going to start another post on these forums after this. It's really clear people need black and white non-ambiguous questions and answers in the modern day.

Keiko seemed like a very long-suffering person, and being long-suffering for a professional sufferer like Miles is boss level. Anyone else would have spaced Miles out an airlock for constantly suggesting she wear the Kira uniform in bed. Ok I made that up. But it probably happened. Anyway, if we're taking this conversation literally, I don't think she was a pah-wraith. I don't think the pah-wraiths can stand botany.

Dude, the answer isn't to take the ball and go home. That too is also taking it seriously.

And, again, it's doubling down on this notion that in modern day people exist a certain way when I have seen that in people for 30 years.

That is true.

Bajor has had a civilization for longer than earth. They've probably studied all their plants already. The Enterprise went to a new planet every week. A landing party could collect tricorder readings and samples for Keiko to study on the Enterprise.
Also true.

However, one thing that Keiko might bring to the table on Bajor would be knowledge from the Federation that Bajorans might not know, because it's based on experiences in places Bajorans had never been. Additionally, diseases might be brought in from other star systems, a possibility in interstellar commerce I'd imagine, things that Keiko might know how to deal with but which are alien to the Bajorans. Perhaps the blight mentioned in "Business as Usual" was just such a thing.

Between insinuations of sexism and having to spend more time on whether a question is allowed to be asked in the first place, that seems par for the course.
A question is always allowed. Whether or not people take it as intended is the nature of discourse. This is the internet, where miscommunication, misunderstanding and assumptions reign supreme, especially on a Trek forum.

I mean, I can't tell you what to do. But, it strikes me as just as serious a reaction as I'm being accused of taking this topic.

I' Dukat for sure. If he wasn't pre-destined and born a Pah Wraith

In my opinion, that would ruin his character (then again, I do also think that making Sisko the Prophet Christ Child also ruined him to some extend)
Dukat is one of the best villains in Trek, because he is fairly believable in his opinions on himself; he thinks he's a good person who tried to help the Bajorans, and those nasty Bajorans neither appreciated him nor did they allow him to help them. You can pretty much picture him as one of those people who abuse others and then scream "Look what you made me do!"
If that complex character were just turned into a secret Ptah Wraith/ the Ptah Wraith's Antichrist, I think it would harm both the character and the show as a whole.

I think it might make him more poignant, and give more weight to why he believes all the things you just laid out(which is a great summation of Dukat's character.) But...you're right...it's no contest, if anyone is a Pah Wraith...it's Keiko

Well, if we go into the jokey side of things, I gotta nominate Jadzia, considering what a giant b-word (and that's not against a female character, I also call male characters b-words) she could be.
Plus...we never learned anything about her past or who she was before she joined with Dax....isn't that a little suspicious? Like suspicious enough to theorize that she was crafted in the deepest depths of the Ptah Wraith's abode and then sent to infiltrate the Trill?
Think about it, Dax was close to the Sisko...what better way to get their agent close to him than make her a Trill who gets the symbiote of his old friend, making Sisko trust her right away?

Plus: Unlike Keiko, Jadzia takes visible fun in tormenting others!

So...for all we know the Dax symbiont has always been a Pah Wraith? They've touched 8 lives worth of Trill and other Federation societies...OMG!

Actually though, we might know more about Dax's past then any other character on DS9. Here's the major episodes: Playing God, Facets,Invasive Procedures,Field of Fire,Dax,

No, no. I'm talking about Jadzia, not the Daz symbiote. We know nothing at all about Jadzia before she was joined.
The Ptah Wraiths made Jadzia, or one of them took the shape of her, and she infiltrated the Trill joining program specifically to get the Dax symbiote, so Sisko would trust her.
Curzon originally failed her because he recognized what she really was...which also led to Jadzia killing him and getting the symbiote sooner.

Even her being murdered by Dukat can be made sense of; at some point Jadzia decided that she enjoyed living as a humanoid and tried to get away from her Ptah Warith Masters and start a family with Worf, that's why they had Dukat kill her.

I see what you're getting at...and it makes a lot of sense...Keiko+Dukat=Pah Wraith Jadzia...those sneaky Pah Wraiths...
