New Trailer reveals new old character and confirms setting

Well, the Queen isn't a human, so it would be odd for them to retcon her as having been one. And yes, I know Enterprise also planned an unproduced episode casting Alice Krige as a human, but it was a silly idea.

Well we know Picard's dad was an emotionally abusive Luddite that left both him as well as his brother scarred as well as bitter, so it's not exactly wrong to say "Yes, Picard ran like Hell for space." It may not be the Roddenberry vision of humanity but we know Papa Picard was a guy who actively rejected sentiment as well as technology.

Picard should give them some pointers.
Btw, my mind at first went to another place than driving, and I got really confused as to how Picard would be able to give them pointers... lol... nvm.
So Q sends Picard and his crew to our timeline?
That would actually have been awesome! Change that weird timeline so it aligns with Trek! Very meta.

Another thought: If that is really an interrogation scene with a time cop, wasn't there an evil one, Braxton? He could have done the thing that "broke" time.

Is it just me or does the plot in the trailer (Q changes the timeline, crew has to go back to 21st century Earth to undo the changes to the timeline, trouble happens, crew finally returns to present day, everything is back to normal and Picard has learned a lesson about himself) could easily be the plot of a 2 hr Trek movie or a 2 part episode, not an entire season?

That's how serialized tv works isn't it?

It clearly looks like a young picard. From the new timeline
After rewatching the trailer, it makes sense that it's Picard (not just the face, but his reaction to the painting). Anyway, I wanted to add that I'm glad this alternate timeline restored the white turtleneck to the monster maroons of the Stargazer era, because they always looked ridiculous with them (like someone threw on their tunic as a bathrobe after hopping out of the shower).

I'm going to throw out a crazy theory that's almost certainly completely wrong: What if Georgiou shows up? Am I misremembering or was there a rumor that the planned Section 31 series would take place in the present? Maybe this dark future is the result of her being sent back in time by the Guardian and all Q has done is shield Picard and crew from the changes to the timeline.

Who knows, perhaps the E-C simply lost her supply of shirts in the fierce fighting? Or temperature control, so that everybody fought as naked as they could without angering censors?

Agreed on the aesthetics. But the weirdness of this uniform style persisting for almost a full century when Starfleet is in the habit of doing major revamps every ten years otherwise is still something that really bugs me. E-C is fine and forgivable. Jack Crusher is another matter altogether. Perhaps he wanted to wear his granddad's uniform for that holo-message for some reason?

Heck, if there's one thing STAR TREK is consistent about it's that, even if we conquer war and poverty, people will still have troubled getting along with their families. See Spock and Sarek, Riker and his dad, Troi and her mom, Worf and his brothers and son, Paris and his father, B'Elanna and her family issues, Quark's squabbling relations, Yar's estranged sister, Data and his various "brothers," Tilly and her disapproving mother, etc.

Rare is the guest-starring family member our heroes aren't estranged from at some point. :)

The thought had crossed my mind that Georgiou going back through the GoF is the reason "time is broken". But I'm not sure I want the Trek universe to become THAT small...

It would be new for Trek: One show fighting another. :shifty:

It could really be Ducane from the USS Relativity!
