New Trailer reveals new old character and confirms setting

I'm kind of negative on this. Hopefully the way things unfold will make sense. I mean why would Q change something and make them go back to unchange it? I am mainly expecting they will make it seem like an interesting mystery only to have it fall flat.

The line in the trailer "Q ... went back in time and ... turned our world into a totalitarian nightmare" is actual made of up three different clips, if you listen closely (I've distinguished the clips with dots there).

So there's nothing to say for sure that Q actually is responsible, it may just be misdirection.

Anybody catch the cameo by Ducane (of USS Relativity)? ;) It's at 1:53 in the trailer.

Yes, I know it's not yet confirmed to be Ducane - could be Jay Karnes playing somebody else - but with all this time travel going on, I find it rather likely that it is indeed Ducane.

Perhaps the 29th-century time police haven't been forgotten about after all...

The trailer felt kind of overwhelming to me - borg queen, time travel, Q, alternate timelines, etc. so I am a bit cautious going into this season. Honestly, as long as Picard has a chance to shine then I think I'll be happy. These sentiments seem to be reversed by others, so fingers crossed my initial judgement is bad!

Huh? The 1:53 part of the trailer is clearly Picard himself, saying "home" right after Rios asks "where are you taking us?" Indeed, after freeze framing the whole trailer, I don't see Ducane anywhere in the trailer at all.

I'm assuming it's the guy interviewing Picard at the desk near the end, the different versions of the trailers probably have slightly different run times.

Are we sure that's Jay Karnes?

Probably. They'd never give everything away in a trailer.

Who's the guy in the portrait that Picard is looking at, at about 1:00 in the trailer? Is it supposed to be younger Picard? Maybe Stargazer era?

they might resolve the whole 90's future past we didn't actually get, from the look of it. i never felt it needed resolving but it might be fun
If it were on TNG or VOY, sure, but "Past Tense" was a DS9 two-parter, so all we'll get is an Easter Egg and nothing more. Not that I even want the Easter Egg for the reasons I said in the previous post.

The Eugenics Wars, World War III, and eventual First Contact are a different story.

sorry, i was not referring to the episode of that name. I used a poor choice of words. I meant the latter, the whole star trek's 90's Eugenics Wars, Dy-100's should exist now, Bell Riots in a few more years etc. The easiest way to handle it is just to say Star Trek is another timeline. The EASIEST easiest way to handle it is to say star trek is a show, and there was never a humpback whale aquarium in Sausalito in the 80's but we are fans and that cannot be right.

Plus, you know, a lost battle, and a defeat that keeps on getting worse. Eventually, we'll have to face the fact that 2285 comes and goes without any news of Genesis detonation. Before that, 2063 without warp flight or pointy-eared aliens. That the 1990s already went by without interplanetary crewed flights and cryosleep is not qualitatively different. Better embrace that other side, ASAP and retroactively, than be on the losing one...

...LaForge apparently did it with the E-E for their trip back, at any rate.

Do we already have an exact year for the past adventure?

Correct. Because we all know that it was Emperor Georgiou that was sent back in time by the Guardian of Forever who actually changed the timeline. Those Section 31 people are real assholes.

I liked the trailer it looks like season 2 is going to be really different from season one in the story direction it's taking with the time travel and that Q is going cause big problems for Picard and the other characters .I liked seeing Raffi and Seven arguing knowing how to drive a car that reminded me of the Kirk and Spock scene from a Piece the action. The stuff with the Borg Queen looks really mysterious. And I like the scenes with Raffi and Elnor and Laris coming back too. Also Soji and Rios& Agnes Juratti too.
