Well if you think about it, the people present at the final battle were all acquaintances of each other. And it made sense. I imagine this scene:
Doctor Strange: "Ok, I opened portals in Wakanda and for all the other people we knew. "
Someone: "Wait, I heard of these two guys in Seattle... I'm not sure about their powers but I think they can be useful"
DS: "Ok, where I can find them exactly? Can you recognize them? We are in a hurry! Thanos is about to slaughter Captain America!"
S.: "well, I'm not really sure... somewhere in Seattle..?"
DS.: "... never mind. Let's go!"
S.: "Wait! There is this invulnerable and strong guy! He can be a real useful asset!"
DS:. "Great! Where is he? Who is he?!?"
S.: "Uhm... Somewhere in... New York? I think? And he is... black?"
    DS.:"..."

A well-known character might be popping up in Moon Knight:

Surely some of the movie heroes watch Youtube.

I'd like to think they were there to, but Strange may have just been grabbing folks they knew.

But even if they had heard of him, how would they have been able to track him down in time? In-Universe, How long has it been since the people reappeared until the big final battle? One hour? Less? Better to focus on the people you were sure you were able to track accurately and quickly.

I hope and think that they won't be the only well known character showing up when it comes to a character like Moon Knight. Heck, you could bring back Iron Man without RDJ.

I wouldn't expect one - their options are wide open.

Reintroducing him to the MCU as our newest model of LMD wouldn't need to reference the show at all, but it would fit.

Hmm, I wonder if this is the only wider ranging effect we'll see from the lawsuit?

I think like other lawsuits/strikes of this nature things will be worked out eventually and we'll see the Russo Brothers do Secret Wars.

Eh, even if they cast a different actor it wouldn't have fixed the real problems with the show. Iron Fist, the blonde white martial arts master, had always been a problematic character. They couldn't race change him, though.

So, they're asking "If Scarlett can't trust you now, why should we?"

Yes, but the rich blonde white guy thing is a big part of it.

Of course, that they used up their limited budget by that point on the prior shows didn't help.

The least of its problems is a white guy who's good at martial arts. That he's a Mighty Whitey is a bigger issue.

I thought Iron Fist actually did a pretty good job subverting the white savior trope. Danny's entitlement and arrogant insistence on doing things his own way usually just ended up making things worse, and he kept getting put in his place and humbled by women of color.

Dr Strange got around this, but it was by taking careful steps to show that Kamar-Taj was a multi-ethnic place and not a stereotypical "Hidden Asian City" like the Iron Fist place was. And also, magic is something lots of cultures have, so it's not some "White Guy learns a foreigners art better than them" thing.

Could Danny have avoided the "Mighty Whitey" thing better if his place was shown to have a more varied ethnic makeup?

I think they were kind of screwed with Danny, even if the show had been made by more talented people. Danny being a rich, but basically normal besides that, guy who becomes Iron Fist is important to making the character who he is, so making him a random Asian guy might hurt that a bit, because he's supposed to be kind of an outsider and be different from other Marvel martial arts heroes. That said, without adjusting other stuff his character is just taking parts of other cultures and doing white savior-ish stuff.

But, being a white guy who is good at martial arts isn't an inherently racist thing, either. I think making Kun Lun a more mystical place inhabited by people from all over the world, like Doctor Strange's training place, could help the Iron Fist concept a lot. Also, introducing the other Immortal Weapons, and having them be various ethnicities, would also make Danny being white (assuming they wanted to keep that, although Iron Fist could work with different types of people as long as he's different enough from characters like Shang Chi) make more sense.

But the netflix show barely did anything with the mythology from the bits I saw, since all the Netflix shows hated anything that wasn't "grounded realism". They would do "fantastic" stuff like super powers, but only the bare minimum that they had to (they couldn't have done Jessica Jones without Purple Man's powers, for example). I don't think they even show Danny punching the dragon to get his fist, so using the mythical elements to get away (as much as they could) from the problematic elements wasn't really possible under the (seeming self imposed) restrictions to how "comicbook/fantasy" the show was allowed to go.

Basically I think that the main MCU could make Danny Rand work even keeping him as a white guy if they wanted to. But,at this point there isn't a lot of reason to bring that character back anyway, outside of the fact that he's really the only other Martial Arts focused Marvel hero besides Shang Chi (DC has a lot more variety when it comes to martial arts heroes/villains).

Remember when we were supposed to be getting a live-action Squirrel Girl (in the form of AT&T's Lily, Milana Vayntrub)? Well, now we know why the New Warriors TV pilot never saw the light of day, and it wasn't because it sucked. :brickwall:
