Okay, whatever comics writer came up with that terminology did not think it through. Damping and increasing are opposites. I guess maybe they were thinking of how inertial dampers in science fiction make it easier for a starship to accelerate or change course, but acceleration requires thrust. Just being thrown and flying ballistically is a different situation altogether. There, damping the object's inertia would make it slow down faster, because it has less resistance to deceleration from air friction. It certainly wouldn't make it accelerate.

Honestly I have not been a big fan of the resurrected “Kryptonian Consciousnesses” angle this whole season. It appears unique to this show. Which is fine but that means it has to make sense within this show itself. It never has made sense and raises tons of questions.

They have treated them as the spirits, souls of dead Kryptonians. How did they survive the destruction Krypton? This is not the Eradicator of the comics. Once again, that is fine. But how does it work on this show? It’s treated like a magical device that carries the spirits of the dead? How did they all get there? We’re they part of an experiment before Krypton’s end? But Lara was “preserved” and clearly she was not part of her ex husbands plan.

Than that raises the valid question of what happens to the
Kryptonians when Humans push them out???

I have expected all season we would get an unsatisfactory ending because this story arc was built on a weak and vague premise.

Great character moments and acting no question.

The show is new maybe they will try to explain this later. But this is starting to remind be of the vague and convoluted Krypton mythology that Smallville had.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot more than I have for most of Supergirl's run. I'm not going to haggle points here, but part of me at the end with Jordan and Sarah, had wished when he stammered about saying he loved her and then she said she loved him too, for her to follow up with "Why did Johnathon call Superman 'Dad'?" That would have been awkward and funny.

I think the Kryptonian Consciousness are gone once you push them out.

    Like deleteing a program.

Next season, I'm expecting Kryptonians from the other Multi-verse to invade.

If John Henry Irons daughter managed to survive and cross over.

It stands to reason that the Kryptonians of that world aren't dead and may be hankering for a multi-verse cross-over.

I'm also hoping that John Henry Irons mass produces his "Steel" suit so that a small army of "Steel" level soldiers can be ready to fight.

I was expecting Evil Superman at the end there. I expect him to show up eventually.

So I wonder if that Clark was also implanted with Zod, or someone else?

I think Evil Superman from Steel's Universe will be the "Big Bad" of Season 2 and will be Zod in Kal-El's body.

He's going to be the "What-If" scenario if Zod won and took over Earth and ready to conquer the other Multi-verses.

Honestly I think the plot holes, or at least lack of attention to detail is because this show isn't about Superman's heroics. It's a show about how Superman deals with family issues, with a backdrop of small town issues.

I really liked the finale. The action was big. It also had some really nice character moments. I especially liked Jonathan being the one to reach Jordan. I also really liked the speech Superman gives to the Gazette about Smallville and the eulogy he gives for his Kryptonian father.

I think they did rush the resolution of the Edge/Krypton arc a bit because they wanted to fit a lot of wrap-up at the end of the episode. So the Kryptonian arc was resolved in about 40 minutes which is why it felt rushed because they spend a good 15+ minutes on wrapping up all the other little plots. The wrap up was a bit too much IMO. I don't think they needed to tie up every loose end. For example, General Lane quitting, Jordan and Sarah saying I love you, could have probably been pushed to S2 without losing much.

Overall, I really liked this first season a lot. There no filler episodes. The story arc was pretty tight. And it is a really good version of Superman IMO.

More than likely. Like the writers on Star Trek, most aren't physicists and work to often very tight deadlines.

But the utility of the technology is evident so I wouldn't get too hung up on the label.

    YMMV.

That's how I took it. The way the show presented it is that events played out the same in both universes, with the sole difference being that on Earth-Prime, Lois Lane married Clark Kent instead of John Henry Irons. It was Clark's love for his family that saved him from Zod's possession, and he didn't have that family in Irons's universe, so there he succumbed to Zod's mind.

Hmm... my first reaction is that I feel that storyline has run its course and I'd like the show to move on from it. But on second thought, if Nat came through, that means John's universe may be accessible and there's a chance Superman could help free its people.

Only thing the producer has said about big villain of season 2 is it will not be another Kryptonian.

Which is a relief otherwise it would fall into same pattern as The Flash did.

I didn't find it too rushed and was surprised at how much was packed in. That might be because I didn't really give a hoot about Zeta Roh or whatever his name was so I was glad not to see that overly drawn out.

I also didn't care about any consciousness that were expelled to the ether as they all seemed like garbage. Did they have an agenda of their own or anything as they just seemed to exist to follow whatever commands like a big clump.

My biggest complaint about these last couple episodes is that it felt a bit repetitive to once again have the characters dealing with people possessed with Kryptonians. Jordan getting grabbed and getting Zeta-Roh put in his body was a pretty nice cliffhanger for the first part.
The second half gave us nice mix of action and character. Lois's search for Jordan in his memories was a highlight.
Loved Superman's speech at the end.
It will be interesting to see what they do with Sam now, even if he's retired from the DOD, I can't see him sitting on the sidelines when future threats pop up.
Natalie showing up at the end really surprised me, I had expected that to be either a set up for nex season's big bad or someone with a more direct connection to the Kents. For a second, I thought it might be a new alternate version of Supergirl.

Actually, I thought after they finished the kiss, they'd find themselves a good few feet in the air hovering.

    As you point out:

The intent was for Diggle to be the hook between the Arrowverse shows, so Superman and Lois needed to refer to other costumed characters, especially when a suggested threat of the magnitude of the Kryptonians were on the loose; they did not need to refer to Supergirl in particular--but others still operating somewhere in the world. This series failed to build on what was established elsewhere, at a time it needed world-building the most.

I keep reading the theory that this show takes place after the Supergirl finale; has that been confirmed anywhere?

@dupersuper There's no call for a laughing emoji in response to the absolutely legitimate opinion that Man of Steel is an excellent Superman film that does the character better justice than this particular series.

It's almost certainly not true, because Diggle's upcoming appearance in Supergirl is supposed to be the climax of his multi-episode arc and therefore must take place after his appearance here. Recall that S&L's production was delayed by a COVID-mandated shutdown, so these episodes are actually airing a month or two later than originally intended, and the first part of Supergirl's final season was actually moved ahead in the broadcast schedule to fill the gap.

If anything, maybe they reason they didn't reference Supergirl is because they didn't want to spoil its "upcoming" final season.

I do worry with Irons and his daughter who also helped build the suit we might be seeing a creeping CW trope coming and that is a team Superman. I really don't want to see that.

That can be a good thing, to give the show a season or two away from Kryptonians before coming back to it. Pace itself.

I wouldn't mind team "Steel-man" if the DoD helped mass produce and train the soldiers.

It could be a huge relief off of Supermans burdens and help setup a huge Multi-verse clash where this Multiverse can go to John Henry Irons Multiverse and save it from the Kryptonians that have taken over.

It would make for a interesting story-line where the good guys can go on the offensive and save the populace of that parallel world.

It doesn't have to happen right away, they can take a season or two to focus on another big bad and build up the Team "Steel-man" suits and pilots with John Henry Irons being the OG "Steel".
