Stargirl Season 2 - Discussion ( Spoiler Warning)

They were a thing at one point, weren't they? Before she got erased from the multiverse. You'd think she'd would have known better than to get engaged to Kyle--he doesn't have the best track record.

Yeah. For anyone who doesn't know, look up "women in refrigerators". :barf2:

If watching your girlfriend dying makes you sad.

Stay clear of Wonder Girl.

She's died like 6 times.

Once in the 90s, they put her back together using her boyfriend Roy "Speedy" Harper's memories. And she like "I'm not me any more. I'm who you think I am, am I only with you, because you think I love you, but did I? We have to break up."

Yes, yes, all gingers look alike.

Wally wanted to be called Speedy...

What about Linda Park?

Fastest bigamist alive.
What about her? I don't think it was said Wally and Donna dated just that they were close friends. Originally it was going to be Dick Grayson who "restarted" Donna's life, but the Bat Office said no. So as second runner up, Wally got the job.

Love that clip. I am guessing that Courtney is going to be jealous of the new girl. They wont get along so well, but will resolve their differences in time for the finale.

I joke but that is because I enjoy the show.

Well the ring is definitely on par with the staff, maybe better. So Court might not be the team's biggest gun anymore. ;)
Back in the day, Ted Knight and Sly Pemberton used the cosmic rod/belt in a very GL like fashion, creating constructs and the like. I don't think Jack or Court ever did that with the staff. Ted must have been holding out. :p
Oooh, is Robinson still on staff? I'd love to see Jack Knight turn up. Of course I'm such a JSA/II nerd I want Power Girl and Huntress to show up as well. DC seems a bit looser with the strings when it comes to Bat and Super characters these days.

I think Courtney has a pretty good point here.
You mean the girl who broke into the JSA HQ and stole the lantern? That Courtney?

OK, so was Jade in the wrong breaking in after dark? If it were me, and someone had stolen the lantern from the JSA, I'd think it was either a professional thief or a supervillain. I'd have done the same as she did.

I think the real issue here is that Jade is everything Courtney wants to be but is not. Jade is the daughter of a superhero, was told all about the JSA by her dad, knows all about Stripesy, was polite and respectful to him for his history, skills, and experience. (hopefully an interesting story about how she got the ring. Did the ring find her? Not unheard of when it comes to Power Rings.) Jade is built from the ground up to make Courtney jealous.

Which is good. They'll become friends eventually, but having Jade on the team may make Courtney take a good look in the mirror.

Yeah, don't know if I would fault Courtney for attacking an intruder in her home in the middle of the night. I liked that fight scene though, the nicely done collateral damage raised it up a notch.

But doing it with apparently lethal force seemed like (literal) overkill. And asking "Who are you?" before the extended fight scene instead of after might've avoided the fight altogether. The first principle of the responsible, disciplined use of force is never to use more force than you have to. Courtney is gravely lacking in both responsibility and discipline, and she's wielding what's apparently an extremely lethal weapon. That's a bad combination.

Even aside from all that, how much is it going to cost her parents to replace the furniture she destroyed? What's it going to do to the family budget?

They'll use the vacation money.

Put a frying pan with oil on the stove and walk away forgetting the burner was on high. Insurance rates go up a bit.

Overall it was actually good writing that we can see it both ways. I agree with Christopher though, using a weapon like that the way she did was over the top. I think that was the point though. In all ways Courtney has to dial it down.

Finally gotten around to watching the season premiere - solid setup episode as most season starters but the fight at the end was quite well done and exciting.

As to Courtney - remember she's still a teenager with a hero complex and overinflated sense of duty. Bad thing is with that staff she can do damage before even realizing and holding herself back, fortunately for that GL girl she could take the hits or otherwise the show would take a very dark turn. Speaking of dark turns that episode opening scene was creepy as hell, reminded me why i don't like horror movies. I'm sure the comic book connection is very close but i'm too lazy to look it up and for once i enjoy not knowing the background for most characters and be surprised when they pull something off.

I think this season might be Courtney finding a balance in her two lives, not the least due to the season title Summer School. Looking forward to the season.

;) Hey, no offense, but I was a teenager once. Neither me nor any of my friends/gang would have shot a rocket launcher at someone in the kitchen.

A hero complex and overinflated sense of duty isn't an excuse, it's a personality disorder. That said, the conflict and damage she's causing makes the story more interesting if we get a chance to see her grow out of it. Excusing her for being a teenager would mean we never get to see that self-examination and growth.

Anyway, that was just a preview. Let's watch the whole episode.

Agree with you completely there. :)
