News Kurtzman’s contract extended

I don't watch any of these modern Trek shows as they are not for me, but the one show that has peaked any of my interest in modern trek is the new show about Pike, so we shall see.

"among the most watched"
NOT
"the most watched"

Interesting.

Paramount+ has only 11 original drama shows, 7 of which have ended, so it's not that hard to be AMONG the most-watched.

It wasn't referring to just dramas, though. It said "original series". Paramount Plus has 38 original series. And while 12 have ended, that doesn't matter much on a streaming service, as most of those are still available to watch (and some, like Short Treks, are only tentatively ended).

38 or 26 is much larger than the four you're inferring they have. I don't think anyone seriously doubts that the Star Trek franchise is still top dog in Paramount's online offerings.

Secret Hideout will recruit a franchise manager to help oversee the Star Trek frontier.

That's too bad. Unfortunately, Kurtzman has the Hollywood gift of failing upward constantly.
Failing? How so?

Look at the Nielsen ratings, public reception, and critical response to other shows made by Secret Hideout for CBS:

Salvation (canceled), Instinct (canceled), Clarice (undetermined).
Clarice has a Nielsen rating of 0.32.

Alex Kurtzman tried two times to create a cinematic universe and failed.

His first attempt was with "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".
It failed and Sony had to partner up with Disney and Kevin Feige's MCU.

His second attempt was "The Mummy 2017". Alex Kurtzman was the writer and the director of this movie.
This movie was supposed to be the launchpad for "The Dark Universe".
It was a box-office bomb, public reception and critical response were devastating:
Metacritic: 34/100
IMDB: 5.4/10
Rotten Tomatoes: 16% / 35%
8 Golden Raspberry Awards nominations, 1 win.

Jason Blum picked up the "Dark Universe" franchise, produced "The Invisible Man" for a budget of $7 million, and made $143.2 million at the box office.
