Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

Yeah, we still have Kopitar, Camellari and Blake. Plus Visnovsky but that's my bias talking with him. I think part of the kings problem is that they are still kind of in the process of rebuilding and getting young players. So it's just a matter of being patient. Which I am not haha.

I miss Luc Robitaille :(

The trading deadline is almost upon us and the only thing I've heard so far is Peter Forsberg is going to come back to Colorado. Anything else go down yet? I wonder if Patrick Marleau is going to be a Shark this time tomorrow.

That's what the Leafs fans are saying too. ;)
Well, in their case they are used to it :p

Bah humbug they traded modry for a draft pick! Now, I have nothing but a draft pick but the Kings never do anything interesting at trade deadline.

prospal is going to the flyers for picard and a draft pick, dan boyle signed an extension through the 13-14 season

deadline's tomorrow, will there be other big moves?

There's someone in the NHL named Picard? Nice.

I read your post and I honestly thought Patrick Stewart was going to lace them up. :guffaw:

I know nothing about Prospal. I hope he'll do a good job bringing the Flyers around this year.

Well, Modry was gonna be a free agent in a couple of months so as long as the Kings get a decent draft pick, it's not a bad deal.

I would expect the Oilers to trade Roli tomorrow. At this point, I'd be satisfied with just a pick for him. Staios may also end up on the trade block; and if it doesn't look like Pitkannen will re-sign, then maybe Lowe should consider trading him if the right deal comes up, but I really hope that doesn't come to fruition. I don't really expect the Oilers to make a big splash tomorrow otherwise.

Yeah, but I liked Modry and he's been around for awhile. Plus, I don't like change haha.

I guess I also just kind of wish the Kings would do something a bit more bold with how they play out their options. It's not like they are a Cup contender this year and at the rate they are going they won't be for awhile. So may as well make as big of a splash as possible instead of waiting around for something to happen.

Brad Richards and Johan Holmqvist to Dallas for Jussi Jokinen, Mike Smith and Jeff Halpern.

Brain Campbell to San Jose for Steve Bernier and a 1st rounder.

Huge, massive trades which suck for my team, the Canucks, because both those teams are likely 1st round opponents in the playoffs and they just got a hell of a lot better.

The Sharks need help on the Defensive line so this should really help. I hope they aren't done yet and maybe something really big will happen with Patrick Marleau.

Wait a minute --- is it 2001? First Forsberg and now Adam Foote? Hell yeah!

Now all I want to see is Roy return for one last glory run!

Well, with about 6 minutes to go and a bunch of NTCs I'm not expecting anything more from my team (the Leafs) than what they did: Moving Belak for a pick.

I can't believe I've followed this team since I knew what hockey was. Comes with being born and raised in SW Ontario I guess.

EDIT: And as I made the above post he sent Hal Gill to Pittsburgh for a 2nd and 5th round pick.

Well, there's 5 minutes left until the deadline and the Nucks have only traded Matt Cooke for Matt Pettinger. Cooke was a fan favorite, but his play was sub par this year and had apparantly fallen out of favor with the coaches.

So another year, no signifigant moves to upgrade our glaring problems, ie scoring depth. It's starting to get absolutely disgusting to this Nucks fan how other teams both behind us and in front of us improve, and we stay the same. The bottom line is that if we don't do anything signifigant and actively make changes that better us then Luongo will leave at the end of his contract and we'll have nothing at all. He wants to be on a winning team, and I'm not sure management is showing that they are doing everything they can to ensure that.

Fuck.

Oh and I just heard Hossa to the Penguins. Wow.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Luongo did leave. And Hossa to Pittsburgh... I wasn't expecting that at all.

The thing that pisses me off most is that Nonis is going to come out and say "we didn't want to give up our future" when asked of his inability to make trades. What future? The time is now - you win cups by building from the goal out, and we have one of the top 3 goalies on the planet. It's time to improve on that while we can. And besides, if Luc Bourdon and Cory Schneider are our future, then the future looks pretty damn bleak.
