What games have disappointed you, at least to the point where you just dropped them and never touched them again, or did finish them but grudgingly?

For me Bioshock Infinite. Those nice trailers sucked me in and I felt disappointed when the actual game came out because to me it felt very forced and linear and I thought with these gorgeous maps we could go where we want but nooooooooooooo game says "I'm holding your hand and forcing you in this direction."

Mass Effect Andromeda because of that stupid ending which felt a waste and the fact you can't explore the lovely map of meridian.

Most of the games I give up on are due to technical issues. I don't have the best PC, so any game that ends up giving me too much trouble, I just drop it, until I can at least get an upgrade to play it properly.

But purely out of disappointment, let's see, I think it was Vampyr on PS4. I wanted to desperately like the game, as I loved the concept and the way it was aligned with the 1918 Pandemic, but I found the game to be poorly optimized, with a bunch of UI issues that made playing it a chore. I had made it fairly far into the game and thought I was doing well enough, until a particular boss fight I didn't understand, and made only more difficult due to the poor framerate. Without a doubt, it's possibly the worst PS4 game I've seen based on the fact that it was so poorly optimized along with its UI issues. The menu system would often glitch out and not render properly. It led me to believe the game was shipped before it was really ready.

There are also a lot of games I've gotten free and check out and give up soon after because they're simply not the kind of genre I'm into.

Cyberpunk 2077. Honestly, the story just isn't very interesting, heap on the bugs and it is something that I played for a couple of hours and moved on. Glad I got it on sale.

I lasted a week into that. Played as a corpo got to the part where you do the braindance in the van and then just dropped it. It's colourful, the world is big and something's always happening but it just didn't hold my attention.

Every PC game that has shipped without offline LAN support has been a disappointment to me.

Did you try the Borderlands games, 2 has offline LAN.

Mind you having said that Borderlands is hardly the best thing, the first game was fun but then came 2 and 3 and they pushed the same humour thinking they were so clever but the jokes wear thin over time and you can only push being wacky so far..

The old days of Epic Megagames before they became a corporate whore, now some of those old games were fun..... Rise Of The Triad on a LAN .. fun times

To give you a sense of what I am talking about, imagine my wife and I playing Diablo II in 2000. We are in the same room and the only hardware involved is a switch and 2 PCs. Zero lag. Jump ahead to 2012 for Diablo III and now it's still us in together in a room only the only way to play together is to play through Battle.net, with whatever associated server and Internet lag in play. I find that annoying as hell.

The game itself doesn't support playing multiplayer without going through Blizzard's servers. Us playing Diablo II in 2000 was on an ethernet network. LAN play like that doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Me too. The house (which was built in 2006) has Cat5e in the walls for just that purpose. But the peeps we played with back then are scattered far and wide.

Fallout 4 for me... I think it was because there's a bit in the main quest where you have to find something in the middle of the wasteland. I never found it, so I lost interest.

My facial recognition and people reading skills are so bad, I flubbed half the interrogation scenes. But I did finish the game.

Speaking of Cyberpunk, I heard they did a couple of patches since I last played. Saw that the second one downloaded the day before yesterday on my Series X. So I figured I’d give it another try and fired it up this morning, and there is yet another fucking patch to download.

Way to eat up my gaming time CDPR.

I did like that option in the game where you could ask other people online which answers to use in the interrogations.
