Paramount/JJ trying another Trek movie (that will probably never get made).

That reminds me: It's a good thing my 2007 petition to have an Adam Baldwin statue commissioned fell through.

The way things are going now, I just hope I'm still alive by the time the next Trek movie come out.
    Sheesh!

It's actually all the movies spliced together.

If it gets released June 2023, it would be 7 years after Beyond. Breaks the previous record of 6.5 years between Trek movies (Nemesis to ST09).

Its hard to imagine an idea that would get me excited for a movie right now. Original casts are probably only coming back for the various TV properties. So, its probably an original idea...which could be great. But my anticipation will not be through the roof. a Tarantino script would have been exciting just because you'd wanna see how bonkers it was. I hope it's good. Whatever they make.

I'll believe it when it is 2023 and I am in the theater watching it. Yes, I'll go to a theater in person to see a Star Trek film.

Until then, color me officially skeptical at this point. I've tried being optimistic on this front.

    Here's the official Startrek.com announcement.

No director, no writers, no cast, no story, no setting. They're starting with a release date, possibly just noise to gauge potential audience interest.

We're 3 unmade movies since Beyond. I'll believe it when the first spy pics from filming surface.

Thing is, I thought they had announced it would be available on Paramount+ as a sort of same day release with its theatrical release? At the very least, I know they announced that with Mission Impossible 7, and that's been postponed until next year.

    5) Kalinda Vazquez, a Star Trek Discovery writer, was announced as the writer for the next Star Trek movie
    https://trekmovie.com/2021/03/04/breaking-paramount-pictures-taps-discovery-writer-to-pen-original-star-trek-feature-film/

    Now this announcement.
    https://intl.startrek.com/news/paramount-studios-announces-new-star-trek-movie-release-date

Is this the movie that Kalinda Vazquez is writing or the 6th Star Trek movie project?
Why was Kalinda Vazquez announced as the writer for the next Star Trek movie a month ago, and now when Paramount announces the release date for the next Star Trek movie, why doesn't Paramount connect the movie to her and announce her as the writer? Strange.

Nothing says "can't find their ass with both hands" like a press release that can't give any tangible information about the thing they're supposed to be announcing.

I imagine it's the Vazquez movie.

She wasn't announced as the writer of the next movie, only that she had been asked to submit a script.

1 and 2 were the same, and I wasn't counting Kalinda Vazquez since it was just a pitch.

Disney did this with Star Wars. Do they deserve the same criticism?

Hell’s bells. Even the StarTrek.com article itself was poorly written.

This whole thing already feels like a rush job. Wild.

I lost my faith when they botched the 50th anniversary. But we'll see if they get this, or anything, out. As long as they have filming finished by the end of next year they should be able to finish the film.
